#133 Is It Time To Move Saquon Down Our Draft Boards?

Posted on

In today’s newsletter, the Julio Jones trade tabloids continue, Tim Tebow’s package is growing, Saquon Barkley’s may be shrinking, and Gio Bernard is now high key thicc. Let’s get to it...

📰 Fantasy News for the true sickos. I’m grinding the news in June so you don’t have to…

🐦 The Julio Jones saga continues to drag on with the latest (and hilarious) news being that the Seahahwks are apparently interested in trading for Julio. It’s hard to envision a more trolly move than the Seahahwks trotting out the greatest 3-WR set of the modern area in Julio, DK Metcalf, and Tyler Lockett only to run the ball 45 times a game with Chris Carson and Rashaad Penny. It’s not the outcome we want, but it’s certainly the one we deserve.

🙏 Word on the street is Tim Tebow could be used in the dreaded “Taysom Hill” role by Urban Meyer. Every week Tebow’s package seemingly grows more expansive. Don’t be surprised if by August Tebow has unseated Trevor Lawrence as the Jags starting QB, in addition to starting at middle linebacker and team minister.

🦖 The Texans signed Rex Burkhead to their ever-growing backfield. Between Burkhead, David Johnson, Mark Ingram, Phillip Lindsay, Buddy Howell (do you want me to keep going?), Scottie Phillips (I can keep going), and Dontrell Hilliard (fine, I’ll stop), Houston now has a running back room that would make Pete Carroll and Kyle Shannahan blush.

💍 Packers GM Brian Gutekunst (bless you) is “still holding firm” that he won’t trade Aaron Rodgers, reports Matt Schneidman of The Athletic. Wait, Rodgers is engaged to Shaliene Woodley? I legitimately just discovered that right now. Keeping up with all of Rodgers’ extracurriculars requires dedication.

📈 ADP On The Move. It’s tough finding actionable fantasy nuggets in June, but this report from Jordan Raanan about Saquan Barkley (knee) potentially being on a pitch count to start the season seems significant if he hasn’t fully recovered from his surgeries. How To Play It: It’s already crowded at the top of drafts as fantasy players race to lock up a workhorse back. I think it makes sense to draft Dalvin Cook, Alvin Kamara, and even Derrick Henry, ahead of Barkley until we get more positive news.

🏆 NFL Coach Rankings 2021. Pat Daugherty doing the Lord’s work over at NBC Sports edge as he ranks every single coach in the NFL right now. I dunno if ‘ol Billy B deserves the top spot anymore, though…

Lord Reebs weighs in on Tua. I highlighted Tua as one of my favorite guys in drafts the other day and now Rich Hribar has penned a deep dive on Tua’s stock heading into 2021. You can check out the piece on Sharp Football, which is part of the Rotopass network. With Rotopass, you get access to year-round, in-depth fantasy analysis from a bundle of sites that would normally cost $400 if you bought separately, but instead costs less than $80. 💪 High key thicc. When I created this new segment *checks notes* on Friday, I didn’t expect to be busting it out again in the very next newsletter, but the people of the internet have seen a new photo of Gio Bernard and they are thirsty…

One thing helping Gio’s cause? It would appear that KeShawn Vaughn continues to fall out of grace with Bruce Arians.

See ya Friday.
