You’d think things would be relatively quiet before the start of the season, but we saw a flurry of impactful roster cuts and signings yesterday that present some opportunities for fantasy managers to take advantage of before lineups lock on Sunday. Let’s get to it...

📰 FANTASY NEWS FOR THE TRUE SICKOS

* In a move that was rumored a few weeks back, the Saints released veteran RB Latavius Murray after he refused to take a paycut. This leaves the team with Tony Jones as the primary backup to Alvin Kamara. “Tojo” as I’m now fond of calling him, is a great waiver pickup in advance of Week 1. There’s no reason to think any differently of him than other premium handcuff backs like Alexander Mattison and Damien Williams. Here’s Matthew’s take

* As expected, the Ravens signed a veteran back to their practice squad—Le’Veon Bell. Adam Schefter expects the team to elevate him to their active roster soon. Ty’Son Williams is still the priority add behind Gus Edwards and is available in a lot of leagues, but Bell could certainly steal some pass work here.

* The Texans, who seem to have a literal revolving door for WRs, signed veteran slot WR Danny Amendola to a one year contract. Last week the team somewhat surprisingly let Keke Coutee go and Anthony Miller is still dealing with a nagging shoulder injury.

* Lions head coach Dan Campbell said RB D’Andre Swift is good to go for this weekend. Swift’s lingering groin injury had spooked me a decent bit, so this is terrific news.

* The Jets listed Tevin Coleman as their starting RB on the team’s unofficial depth chart for Week 1. More surprising is rookie Michael Carter is nowhere to be found on it.

🚑 THE INJURY WARD

* Bucs WR Chris Godwin was limited in practice yesterday with a quad injury. Bucs reporter Greg Auman said we’re unlikely to have answers until warmups Thursday night. Keep Scotty Miller on speed dial for your showdown DFS lineups.

* Raiders RB Josh Jacobs missed his second straight practice yesterday for an unspecified reason. We’ll keep you posted.
