Despite the Laviska Shenault hype reaching a fever pitch on Twitter last night before the game, Gardner Minshew apparently didn’t get the memo.
The man, who recently campaigned to be the #1 overall pick in fantasy drafts, threw for 275 empty calorie yards, 1 INT, and no TDs. Worst of all, he failed to get his most dynamic weapon more than six touches while Chris Conley went 3-34 on 8 targets.
It wasn’t all bad, though, in fantasy land. Both unheralded running backs, James Robinson and Myles Gaskin, looked fully the part as true bellcows. Boy if that’s not a sentence that has big “2020” energy to it.
Gaskin’s snaps, touches (80 total on the season), and target share (25% last night) have now risen each week to the point where offseason acquisitions Jordan Howard and Matt Breida are merely bit players in this offense.
On the Jags side, UDFA Robinson feasted on both the ground (11 carries for 46 yards and 2 TDs) and in the air (6 receptions for 83 yards). I suppose the moral of the story is don’t take running backs 4th overall in the NFL Draft.
Congrats to RotoPassDaily’s Jeff Collins, who rode Robinson and a unique lineup construction (Robinson in the captain slot with five Dolphins in the flex), to a big $50,000 score on DraftKings last night. Check out RotoPassDailly for Jeff and Justin Freeman’s Week 3 picks.

Players who didn’t practice Thursday: Cam Akers (ribs), Josh Jacobs (hip), Julio Jones (hamstring), Michael Thomas (ankle), Raheem Mostert (knee), A.J. Brown (knee), JuJu Smith-Schuster, Darren Waller (knee), Zack Moss (toe), Davante Adams (hamstring), Phillip Lindsay (toe), Sammy Watkins (concussion), Christian Kirk (groin), and Jamison Crowder (hamstring).
Injury fallout takeaways: Adams and Julio seem legitimately questionable, plan accordingly...not worrying about Jacobs and Waller yet unless they miss again today...Malcolm Brown is back at practice so he’ll split work with Darrell Henderson if Akers misses...Devin Singletary could be in for a big workload...Andy Isabella and Mecole Hardman could be sneaky starts if either Kirk or Watkins miss.
Jalen Reagor will have surgery Thursday to repair the torn UCL in his right thumb.
