#241 The Top 6 Waiver Adds For Week 8

Posted on

In today’s Fantasy Life Newsletter we recap MNF, share the top waiver adds of the week, and check in on some news. It's 10/26. Take it away, Peter Overzet…

Well, in hindsight, that Monday Night Football game went about how you’d expect it to go…

* The Saints beat the Seahawks 13-10 in a brutally low scoring game.

* Alvin Kamara got fed until he was stuffed and then fed some more. He finished with 51 yards on 20 carries, but exploded in the pass game (10-128-1).

* D.K. Metcalf somehow put up a solid fantasy line despite only 2 receptions because he took one of them 84 yards to the end zone.

Read on for the top waiver adds of the week, plus some interesting news and injury notes.

Rotoviz’s Sam Wallace lists his top waiver wire targets for Week 8, as well as the percentage that they are currently rostered in ESPN leagues. Take it away, Sam…

  1. Kenneth Gainwell (RB - 26.4%) - After a pair of down weeks, Gainwell rebounded by tying his career-high in targets (8) and scored his third touchdown of the season in a Week 7 loss to the Raiders. Teammate Miles Sanders did leave early due to an ankle injury, and his status will have to be monitored moving forward.
  1. Brandon Bolden (RB - 5.5%) - In the absence of James White, Bolden has been targeted at least four times in four of his last five games. He turned those receiving opportunities into a big performance in Week 7. He offers next to nothing on the ground and is purely a pass-catching back.
  1. Christian Kirk (WR - 30.8%) - Through Week 7, Kirk trails only DeAndre Hopkins in targets, receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns on the team. The Cardinals, the lone undefeated squad, continue to light up the scoreboard and operate an up-tempo offense. He should not be available in this many leagues.
  1. Rashod Bateman (WR - 17.2%) - In just his second game of the season, Bateman quietly posted three receptions for 80 yards on six targets. He was out-targeted by teammates Marquise Brown (14) and Mark Andrews (7), but the talented rookie will undoubtedly continue to carve out a sizeable role for himself in the weeks ahead.
  1. Allen Lazard (WR - 4.6%) - Besides Davante Adams, no other Packer wide receiver has been worth rostering for fantasy. However, Lazard stepped up this weekend when he saw a season-high in targets (6), receptions (5), and yards (60). He also scored for the second consecutive week.
  1. Pat Freiermuth (TE - 2.8%) - Freiermuth was on bye this week, but in his first complete game without teammate JuJu Smith-Schuster, who is done for the season, he racked up seven catches (on seven targets) for 58 yards.

* With Zach Wilson out for 2-4 weeks, the Jets made an elite move in acquiring Joe Flacco from the Eagles for a 2022 6th round pick that can become a 5th rounder depending on how much Flacco plays. Still, it sounds like Mike White will start this week vs. the Bengals.

* There was a COVID outbreak in Green Bay and Davante Adams has been placed on the COVID list. Considering they play on Thursday, it seems very unlikely that Adams will be able to play. Randall Cobb and Allen Lazard should see plenty of targets.

* Kyle Shahan named Jimmy Garoppolo his Week 8 starter even though Trey Lance (knee) is expected back at practice tomorrow.

* Saints kicker Will Lutz is out for the rest of the season after suffering a setback in his rehab process.
