#246 2 Surprise Inactives

Posted on

In today’s Fantasy Life Newsletter we get you ready for Week 8 with all the news you need to know. It's 10/31. Take it away, Peter Overzet…

Welcome to Week 8, where fantasy football and Halloween collide into one giant spooky szn festivity.

It’s shaping up to be a scary, low scoring slate this afternoon. We only have one game with an over/under projected north of 50 points (Titans-Colts).

Even our hopes for a shootout on SNF between the Cowboys and Vikings have taken a hit with uncertainty around Dak Prescott’s availability:

I’m not rolling the dice on Prescott unless I have a solid fall back plan like Kirk Cousins or Daniel Jones. Otherwise, it’s just not worth the risk.

We have two other big surprise inactives today. Read on below for more on those.

If you have any specific start/sit questions, be sure to check out our free Week 8 fantasy rankings by Waz, which were posted in yesterday’s newsletter.

* Falcons WR Calvin Ridley will miss today’s game due to a personal matter. Ridley was going to be a popular DFS play and a staple of season-long lineups, so this certainly flips the slate on its head. Kyle Pitts is going to be a busy man today and I’d also expect one of Russell Gage and Olamide Zaccheaus to have a solid game.

* Lions RB Jamaal Williams is also a surprise inactive, which means D’Andre Swift went from being a great play to an amazing play. It’s doubtful rookie Jemar Jefferson will steal much work, so Swift is a smash in every format.

* Corey Davis, Antonio Brown, Taysom Hill, Christian McCaffrey, Terrace Marshall, Chris Evans, Tevin Coleman, Zach Wilson, Julio Jones, Miles Sanders, Khalil Mack, DeSean Jackson, Eric Ebron, Dyami Brown, Curtis Samuel, Preston Williams

* There was some uncertainty surrounding Austin Ekeler this week after he missed practice the last two days, but Stephania Bell unearthed an instagram post where Ekeler showed a fantasy lineup where he was starting himself with a winky face. That’s reporting in 2021 and it’s good enough for me. Fire up Ekeler as you would normally.

* Broncos WR Jerry Jeudy will return to the lineup for the first time since the opener when he suffered an ankle injury. I’m playing Jeudy in DFS and starting him where I got him in season-long leagues.

* Rob Gronkowski is reportedly a game time decision, but is expected to play. If you’re waiting to start him, make sure you have an O.J. Howard or Cameron Brate on standby.

* Alex Collins, Baker Mayfield, Nick Chubb, Deebo Samuel, Trey Lance, T.Y. Hilton, Jordan Howard, Odell Beckham Jr., DeVante Parker

* As far as Monday Night Football, Saquon Barkley and Kenny Golladay are out, but it sounds like Sterling Shepard and Kadarius Toney will be good to go if you want to plan on starting them.

I have a handful of bets up on Betsperts for today’s games if you want to tail me (username: peteroverzet). Good luck today and enjoy another day full of football.
