#53 Read This Before Setting Your Week 8 Lineup

I went to bed at 9pm last night and woke up to an Instagram feed filled with baby Halloween photos. At least we have a full slate of games today to spice things up.

The Windy Cities. The wind has been a hot topic in conversation all weekend, especially in DFS circles. One individual recommended I take a soup pan outside to try to recreate the effect of wind inside NFL stadiums. The games that look like wind could truly impact scoring are New England-Buffalo, Minnesota-Green Bay, and Las Vegas-Cleveland. Per Kevin Roth, one forecast model is calling for wind gusts around 50mph in Cleveland, which is an extreme amount of wind. These forecasts can change on a dime so make sure you check in on them before lock, but as of now I think it’s worth resetting expectations on the deep ball passing games in these games where wind can have the greatest impact.

Seattle RBs. According to Adam Schefter, Chris Carson (midfoot sprain) is a true game time decision with a 50-50 chance to play against the 49ers after he tests things out during warmups. Footballguys’ Jene Bramel said it’s a very difficult injury to play through. Carlos Hyde is listed as doubtful with his hamstring injury and didn’t practice all week. Travis Homer is questionable with a knee contusion and did participate in some individual drills Friday...Despite the slight optimism on Carson, it still seems likely that this is rookie DeeJay Dallas’ backfield today. Because this game doesn’t kick off until 4:25pm ET, we won’t know whether Carson is playing until 3pm ET. Make sure you have a fallback plan for Dallas in case Carson is active. Kendrick Bourne would be a good fill in, especially in DFS, where he’s priced less than Dallas.

Dalvin Cook (groin) will play against the Packers. The team has implied there would be no restrictions on Cook’s workload, so fire him up as you normally would.
