Some weird things happened yesterday that I refuse to believe…
- The Tua-led Dolphins punted the ball 9 times yet won 28-17
- Cooper Kupp (21 targets) was outscored by Robert Woods (8 targets)
- Josh Jacobs rushed the ball 31 times but didn’t score
- Dalvin Cook rushed the ball 30 times and scored 4 TDs
- Taysom Hill outscored Josh Allen and Carson Wentz
- D.K. Metcalf had 161 receiving yards, 2 touchdowns, and lifted a car off a trapped child
Ok, that last thing about the car isn’t true, but at this point I’d believe it if someone told me that.
We saw a lower scoring slate than usual yesterday, in large part due to wind and weather issues across the league. The Raiders attempting a field goal in these conditions seemed...suboptimal. We still had some standout performances, though...
Cook went nuclear and Davante Adams continued to scorch the earth as he turned 12 targets into 53 yards and 3 TDs in the same game...J.K. Dobbins had a breakout day with Mark Ingram out, rushing for 113 yards on 15 carries and catching a ball for 8 yards, but it was the Steelers (7-0) who got the W…A.J. Brown has now scored a TD in 4 straight games...The Chiefs delivered on their big implied team total (35) as Patrick Mahomes threw 5 TDs (2 to Tyreek Hill)...Nyheim Hines did an Olympic-grade gymnastics routine after scoring a TD. Holding out hope for Jonathan Taylor to take it over this backfield is probably wishful thinking. Jordan Wilkins had 20 carries for 89 yards and 1 TD.
DeeJay Dallas found the endzone twice as the lone man standing in the Seahawks backfield after both Chris Carson and Carlos Hyde didn’t suit up. I recapped my winning DFS lineup featuring Metcalf & Dallas on my YouTube channel earlier this morning...Hot damn, Travis Fulgham has more fantasy points (96.5) than any other wide receiver since Week 4...Troymaine Pope had 10 carries for 67 yards and caught 5 balls for 28 yards. We did an early Week 9 waiver draft on the Splash Play podcast last night and I took him with my last pick as a speculative flier in case Joshua Kelley has fallen from grace.
Injury roundup. Tevin Coleman left the game early yesterday after injuring the same knee he injured earlier in the season...Initial X-rays have determined that there are no broken bones in George Kittle’s foot...Jimmy Garoppolo was benched and/or suffered an ankle injury yesterday depending who you ask...Sam Darnold injured his shoulder vs. the Chiefs...Darrell Henderson left the game early with a thigh injury...Adam Humphries exited the game with a concussion...Kenny Golladay left the game early with a hip injury...T.Y. Hilton was ruled out of the game early with a groin injury.
MNF. Chris Godwin is viewed as 50-50 for tonight with his finger so check the inactives before game time.
