#58 The WR You Must Play In Week 9 💥

Posted on

Last night proved to be one of the trickier spots we’ll see all year for fantasy football. With both the Packers & 49ers decimated by injuries and COVID, we had to do a lot of guesswork with our lineups:

1) How much work will Aaron Jones get? 2) Which SF WR do you play? 3) Is it Jordan Reed or Ross Dwelley? 4) Is it Jerick McKinnon or JaMycal Hasty? Is it MVS or everyone wishing it was Will Fuller

Luckily in life, there are a few constantslike death, taxes, and Davante Adams balling out. And to answer those other questions: 1) enough, but not the goal line work 2) RICHIE JAMES 3) Dwelley, barely 4) Hasty played 16 snaps 5) MVS did his best Fuller impression (2-53-2 TDs).

It’s Stefon Diggs Week. Everything is setting up nicely for Diggs in Week 9. Matthew notes in his Week 9 Love/Hate that Seattle gives up an average of 21.3 fantasy points per game to wide receivers who get 7 or more targets against them while Diggs is averaging 10 targets per game. As if you needed more convincing, Pat Kerrane describes all of the advanced stats that Diggs smashed in Week 8.

How About Patrick Laird AND Laviska Shenault Week? Things are also pointing up for my two favorite players in the NFL. Myles Gaskin is on IR, Matt Breida hasn’t been practicing with a hamstring, and Jordan Howard has been inactive the past few weeks. Howard should be active Sunday, but there’s a direct path to Laird getting most of the valuable receiving work in a game they project to trail vs. the Cardinals. As for Shenault, Ben Gretch made the case for a breakout game coming out of the bye on our episode of Splash Play last night

Injury rundown. Not a ton of surprises from the Thursday injury report. Josh Jacobs and T.Y. Hilton not practicing is worth noting. A.J. Brown continues to get a rest day on Thursdays. Christian McCaffrey looks like he’ll be a full go...

DNP: Chris Carson (foot), Kenyan Drake (ankle), Josh Jacobs (knee/illness), Mark Ingram (ankle), Calvin Ridley (foot), Kenny Golladay (hip), T.Y. Hilton (groin), A.J. Brown (undisclosed), Jamison Crowder (groin), Matt Breida (hamstring),

Limited: Tim Patrick (hamstring), Damien Harris (ankle), Drew Brees (right shoulder), Michael Thomas (ankle/hamstring), Chris Godwin (finger), Marcus Johnson (knee), Sterling Shepard (shoulder/toe), Devonta Freeman (ankle), Phillip Lindsay (foot)

Full: Alvin Kamara (foot), T.J. Hockenson (toe), John Brown (knee), Christian McCaffrey (ankle)

See you guys on Sunday.
