The Jonathan Taylor tilt hit all-time highs last night as he rushed for a paltry 12 yards on 7 carries and prompted memes like this one from Hayden Winks:
I don’t have my hand in the dirt enough to know what exactly is going on with Taylor, but I do know that he’s impossible to trust as a fantasy starter right now and that Nyheim Hines (12-70-1, 6-5-45-1) looks far and away like the best back in Indy.
The other notable performance last night was from Michael Pittman Jr. (8-7-101), who continued the trend of rookie WR breakouts. The Titans and Derrick Henry never really got going and A.J. Brown had his first disappointing game (1-21) in weeks. I have to assume The Big Dog is just hibernating for a few more weeks until DHember officially begins.
Week 10 DFS. This is shaping up to be an interesting week for DFS. Thanks to a Masters-related scheduling quirk, we have SIX games in the 4pm slot. This means a ton of opportunity for late swaps, which is something that is not taking advantage of enough in DFS...We also have weather concerns in both Cleveland and Green Bay where sustained winds in the 20-25mph range are expected. The total in the Texans-Browns game has already dropped massively in response and whether to play Davante Adams at 9k on DraftKings will be a big decision point.
You can get prepared for the slate with Rotopass Daily, where you’ll get access to NumberBall, ESPN+, Rotowire, and Rototracker. The subscription also includes exclusive free rolls and tickets, plus personal stacks and plays from $1M DFS winner Jeff Collins aka "JeffElJefe"'.
Speaking of DFS, every week I build 3-4 high stakes GPP lineups with Mike Leone and Joe Holka. Earlier this year we won $50,000 in a tournament. We discussed our process for hand-building these lineups on my YouTube channel.
Don’t miss Matthew’s Love/Hate column for Week 10, which also features a cool story about veteran Glenn Gonzales.
Eric Eager from Pro Football Focus took a break from feeding Troy Aikman stats on the Fox broadcast last night and joined us on the Splash Play podcast to give out our favorite DFS and sports betting picks for Week 10.
Injury Roundup. Good news: Austin Ekeler (hamstring/knee) is getting close to returning. It sounds like he’s targeting Week 13...Kenny Golladay (hip) isn’t practicing but you’d think he should be back any day now...It looks like we might get another Gio Bernard week...Keep an eye on everyone who didn’t practice on Thursday listed below, especially T.J. Hockenson and David Montgomery.
DNP: Carlos Hyde (hamstring), Chris Carson (foot), Kenny Golladay (hip), Joe Mixon (foot), David Johnson (concussion), T.J. Hockenson (toe), David Montgomery (concussion), Mark Ingram (ankle), DJ Chark (illness), Deebo Samuel (hamstring)
I’ll be back on Sunday morning with all of the late-breaking news and inactives. Have a good weekend.
