Yesterday was one of those days where the NFL news firehose started blasting and didn’t seem to stop all day. Every time you refreshed Adam Schefter’s Twitter there was another plot twist.
We had the Ravens-Steelers game postponed to Wednesday. And then we found out that Will Fuller has been suspended six games for violating the NFL’s PED policy. After that, we received word that the Ravens-Steelers game would be played at 3:40pm to accommodate NBC broadcasting the 88th Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting. Everything I just wrote is factual.
For the record, I’m willing to make the sacrifice of punching out early on Wednesday to watch football so my grandma can watch Dolly Parton perform in front of a giant tree before her bed time. I don’t want a medal or anything, but it’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make.
The NFL also announced some other schedule maneuvering to accommodate the reshuffling and we are now getting a doubleheader on MNF next week (Steelers-Washington @ 5pm ET followed by Bills-Niners @ 8:15pm) and then Cowboys-Ravens @ 8:05pm ET on Tuesday.
And after all of that, we had Eagles-Seahawks. Remember all of those reports about Jalen Hurts (2 snaps) getting more involved? That was fun. Oh, and surprise, surprise, DK Metcalf continued to beast (10 for 177).
So here we are on Tuesday. Normally we would run through top waiver pick-ups today, but since ESPN Fantasy and most other fantasy platforms have pushed Week 13 waivers back to Thursday, we’ll do that tomorrow instead. Matthew has the details on how it’s specifically being handled on ESPN, but be sure to double check your own league settings.
As for the Fuller fallout, it’s a brutal blow for those of who have him in every other league. He finishes the year with 53 receptions, 879 yards, 8 TDs, and a giant middle finger to all of the people who thought they could predict he would get injured. Through 11 games, he had more yards and TDs than DeAndre Hopkins did for the Texans at this point last season. In his absence, Brandin Cooks will step into the WR1 role and Keke Coutee and Isaiah Coulter will see big boosts in playing time. Deshaun Watson should ultimately be fine, but they are now entering a tough stretch in their schedule without their star wideout: IND, @CHI, and @IND. I’m done with this paragraph, I’m sick to my stomach.
