#86 Is Kyler Murray Broken??

Posted on

A lot of us have ridden Kyler Murray and DeAndre Hopkins to the fantasy playoffs, but are the wheels coming off in Arizona?

The Cardinals have now lost three straight games, including four of their last five, and both Murray and coach Kliff Kingsbury are starting to draw criticism

Kyler says his shoulder is fine, but over the past three games he’s run for only 61 total yards after previously averaging 67.1 yards per game. “It’s pretty obvious if you watch the game if [the opposing defenses] make me hand the ball off, I have no choice but to hand the ball off. I don’t know what you want me to do," said Murray.

At For The Win, Steven Ruiz gets his hands in the dirt and identifies some specific things that are sabotaging the Cardinals. Too many screen passes to receivers. Poor success rate on third down. Lack of creativity in utilizing Hopkins.

With only three games left on our fantasy calendars (@NYG, PHI, SF), we need things to turn around quickly. Here’s to hoping Kliff can figure it out before being officially slapped with the dreaded “fake sharp” label.

Tonight we get Thursday Night Football with the Rams (-5) hosting the Patriots in a game Vegas doesn’t expect to see too many fireworks (O/U 44.5). Not too much in the way of news and notes for this one. Cam Akers (shoulder) practiced in full yesterday and Cam Newton (abdomen) is listed as questionable, but is expected to play.

Here’s the full injury rundown from practices yesterday. We’ll have a better idea of who is trending in the right direction after today’s practices.

DNP: A.J. Brown (ankle), Deebo Samuel (foot), Chris Godwin (finger), Josh Jacobs (ankle), Julio Jones (hamstring), Joe Mixon (foot), Tyreek Hill (illness), Philip Rivers (toe), Kenny Golladay (hip), Denzel Mims (personal), Antonio Gibson (toe)

Limited: Chris Carson (foot), Jerry Jeudy (ankle), Keke Coutee (knee), Brandin Cooks (foot/neck), Terry McLaurin (ankle), Ezekiel Elliott (calf), Tee Higgins (hamstring), Mike Evans (hamstring), Myles Gaskin (knee), Michael Thomas (ankle), Laviska Shenault (thumb), Allen Robinson (knee), James Robinson (knee), Jonnu Smith (knee), Todd Gurley (knee), D’Andre Swift (illness), Daniel Jones (hamstring), Christian McCaffrey (quad/shoulder), Breshad Perriman (shoulder), Frank Gore (concussion)

Loose ends. Rashaad Penny (knee) returned to practice Wednesday for the first time since tearing his ACL last season...Mark Andrews and James Conner have been activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list...Drew Brees is progressing well as he bounces back from a lung puncture and fractured ribs. It sounds like they are eyeing a Week 15 return...
