Despite being listed as active by the team, Josh Jacobs took to his instagram stories before the Raiders game yesterday to have a little fun:
He then followed that message up with another: “A lot of hot fantasy owners.” He saved the best troll for on the field, though, totaling only 74 yards and no TDs against the Colts.
On the one hand, I understand that players like Jacobs are inundated with asshole fantasy players often tagging them on social media and saying mean things. Because of the bad apples, many athletes have been conditioned to view fantasy players as the villains.
In reality, fantasy players and sports bettors are the ones driving the entire NFL entertainment infrastructure and Jacobs probably shouldn’t willfully lie and alienate that group. Last night on the Splash Play pod, we discussed the Jacobs troll and the other players who have given fantasy gamers the middle finger in 2020.
What else happened yesterday? Stefon Diggs (10-130-1) balled out on primetime...Brandon Aiyuk (10-119) stepped up in a big way for Deebo Samuel, who left the game early...Russell Gage threw a dime to Calvin Ridley for a 39-yard TD...Jalen Hurts rushed 18 times and led the Eagles to an impressive 24-21 victory over the Saints. Hard to imagine Carson Wentz ever getting that job back...Jonathan Taylor (20-150-2, 2-2-15) joined Cam Akers as another rookie RB setting up to be a league winner...The Big Dog did what The Big Dog does in December and rumbled his way to 215 rushing yards and 2 TDs..Mike Davis got back to doing his best Christian McCaffrey impersonation (2 TDs, 5 catches, 93 yards)...The Chiefs mounted another furious comeback at Hard Rock Stadium behind their big three...Miles Sanders popped off in a tough spot for 115 yards and 2 TDs.
I went all in on Russell Wilson and the Seahawks in my DFS lineups, only to watch Wilson and DK Metcalf sit the entire 4th quarter. I recapped the disappointing lineups on my channel this morning.
