Apparently I picked the wrong night to go to bed early. Justin Tucker nailed a 55-yard game winner after a back-and-forth barn burner that included a quick pit stop to the bathroom for Lamar Jackson.
Despite the slippery field, fantasy gamers needing MNF miracles got plenty of points. Jackson did his thing on the ground (9-124-2), Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt combined for 4 TDs, Gus Edwards and JK Dobbins combined for 3 TDs, and even Baker Mayfield put up a useful line (343 yards, two TDs, 23 rush yards, one rush TD).
Now it’s time to set our sights on Week 15, which for many of you is the semifinals. This will be the penultimate waiver wire edition of the newsletter for the rest of the season, so let’s be sure to truly savor these moments discussing players that you hopefully don’t have to start.
The Top 5 Waiver Adds For Week 15
DeAndre Washington (RB - 13.2%) - Washington didn’t smash against the Chiefs like we would have liked, but the volume was there (13 carries, 2 receptions). He also got stuffed at the goal line once. It’s unclear if Myles Gaskin will be activated off the COVID list for this week’s game vs. the Patriots so Washington should be added/held until we get clarity.
Lynn Bowden Jr. (RB/WR - 0.5%) - Sticking in Miami, Bowden needs to be added everywhere. Not only does he have dual eligibility on ESPN, he racked up 7 catches and looked explosive in the process. With uncertainty surrounding the health of basically every Dolphins pass catcher, Bowden could enjoy a fast finish.
Chad Hansen (WR - 30.7%) - People forget that Hansen roomed with my buddy Patrick Laird in college. 70% of ESPN fantasy gamers also seem to forget that he has now had 12 catches over his past two games, including 7 vs. the Bears in Week 14. Deshaun Watson is the tide that lifts all boats.
Jalen Hurts (QB - 8.2%) - I rarely mention QBs in this space, but any QB who rushed 18 times in his debut start is firmly on the fantasy radar. Hurts turned those attempts into 106 rushing yards and also looked good slinging it (167 passing yards on 30 throws). Hurts has two pretty friendly matchups on deck as well: @ARI & @DAL.
Rashard Higgins (WR - 5.5%) - Higgins has 19 targets over the past two games and has also scored in both. I’m still skeptical that the Browns offense can support multiple pass catchers with their commitment to establishing the run, but they keep finding themselves in shootouts. Higgins Week 16 matchup vs. the hapless Jets looks particularly juicy.
