Newsletter 303 The Top 5 Waiver Adds For Week 17

Posted on

In today’s Fantasy Life Newsletter, we recap MNF, check on some news items, share the top waiver adds of the week, and enjoy Linda’s kicker tiers and a new edition of Jake TV. It's 12/28. Take it away, Peter Overzet…

Well, the Ian Book experiment seemed fun on paper, but a little less so in reality.

Despite a groundswell of puns willing him to succeed on Twitter, Book finished with only 135 yards passing and 2 INTs. This game, like so many other island games this year, was painful to watch unless you were invested in Jaylen Waddle (10-92-1).

We’re now onto Week 17, where most fantasy championships will be decided.

A couple interesting news items worth mentioning before we get to the Week 17 waiver adds and kicker tiers…

* Jimmy Garoppolo suffered a “torn ulnar collateral ligament” and fracture in his right thumb. His availability for the Niners game vs. the Texans this weekend is very much in doubt. On the one hand, this is very exciting news for the Trey Lance stans (one may even be penning this very sentence). On the other hand, it also makes forecasting George Kittle and Deebo Samuel a little more tricky.

* There are rumblings that Derrick Henry could return in Week 18 to “knock off some of the rust” before the Titans playoff run. Henry hasn’t played since Week 8 when he suffered a foot injury.

* The Rams have placed Darrell Henderson on IR with an MCL sprain and also hinted that Cam Akers, who was designated to return to practice this week, could play in Week 17 after his Achilles tear in July.

🛒 THE TOP WAIVER WIRE ADDS

Rotoviz’s Sam Wallace lists his top waiver wire targets for Week 16 as well as the percentage that they are currently rostered in ESPN leagues. Take it away, Sam…

  1. Rashaad Penny (RB - 44.4%) - Penny has at least 10 rushing attempts in four consecutive games and has hit the 100-yard mark in two of his last three. Over his previous three, he has 311 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

  1. Dare Ogunbowale (RB - 0.2%) - After James Robinson left with an Achilles injury, Ogunbowale stepped in and carried the ball 17 times for 57 yards and a score. After the game, it was confirmed that Robinson suffered a torn Achilles. With no Carlos Hyde for the rest of the season, Ogunbowale is the next man up for the Jaguars.

  1. Rex Burkhead (RB - 23.8%) - Burkhead came into Week 16 with 65 carries over his previous five games. Teammate David Johnson was ruled out before the game with a thigh injury, allowing Burkhead to total a season-high 22 carries for 149 yards and a pair of scores.

  1. Boston Scott (RB - 13.1%) - Miles Sanders fractured his hand and will undergo additional testing this week. Jordan Howard also exited early with a stinger which left Scott to manage the workload for the Eagles. Scott scored his first touchdown since Week 12 and has proven to be capable of carrying a more significant workload.

  1. K.J. Osborn (WR - 30.2%) - Despite Adam Thielen returning this week after recovering from his ankle injury, Osborn continued to carve out a prominent role for the Vikings. Osborn has at least seven targets and a score in three of his last four weeks.

👟 LINDA'S KICKER TIERS

Linda aka Lindellions shares her kicker tiers for Week 17 to help you win those ‘ships. Take it away, Linda…

After Colt McCoy held a football with the laces directly facing Matt Prater I made a note to add holders to my spreadsheet. Usual holder and punter Tommy Lee was put on the Reserve/COVID-19 list and it clearly affected Prater’s results. As long as Lee is back this week, Prater remains a plug-and-play…Michael Badgley is a great streamer this week if you’re looking for an easy grab. The Colts are averaging 2.7 field goal attempts per game the last three weeks and face a Raiders squad allowing two field goal attempts per game in the same span…Speaking of attempts in the last three weeks, Jake Elliott and the Eagles have the second most at three per game since Week 14.
