Welcome To The Fantasy Life Newsletter!
Hey, my name is Peter Overzet aka The Deposit King.
Like you, I’m obsessed with fantasy football. Season-long, DFS, dynasty, best ball. All of it. And against his better judgement, Matthew Berry has handed over the keys to his newsletter to me. Going to try to keep my hands at 10 and 2, but no promises.
We’ll be dropping these in your inbox six days a week throughout the football season. We’ll laugh, we’ll cry, we’ll win fantasy championships.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Holy cow. The Jags released Leonard Fournette. There were rumblings this could happen, but it still feels like a shock. The Jaguars backfield looks like it will be a committee for now, with Ryquell Armstead, Devin Ozigbo, and Chris Thompson splitting work. With as much as the Jags will be throwing, maybe Gardner Minshew is worth that first overall pick??
- Eagles WR Jalen Reagor injured his shoulder and is expected to miss four weeks. Bummer news for the talented rookie who was having a great camp. Next man up looks to be JJ Arcega-Whiteside. Just make sure to put some respect on his name.
-
If you haven’t heard Washington RB Antonio Gibson compared to David Johnson, then...well, you probably are living a well-adjusted, balanced life. But for those of us on Twitter, the buzz on Gibson continues to build.
Death, taxes, and trying to figure out the Patriots backfield. Right when it looked like Damien Harris might pull away with the starting job, Sony Michel is now back and splitting reps evenly Harris.
HOW TO WIN YOUR DRAFT
-
Need to sneak in two Washington blurbs for my first newsletter. I’m with Berry, Terry McLaurin is set to explode this year. Don’t miss Matthew’s write-up on the exciting second year WR and everyone else he recommends you draft and fade in his annual Love/Hate manifesto.
Zero RB vs. Robust RB has been the debate of the summer at the online fantasy water cooler. For those loading up on pass catchers early, Rotoviz’s Shawn Siegele has begun his countdown of the top late round RBs to draft. You can get a sub to Rotoviz, along with Sharp Football and four other sites, on Rotopass.
BE CAREFUL WHO YOU DRAFT
Every year there seems to be a few doppelgangers in the draft applet that can throw people for a loop. Remember the other Adrian Peterson on the Bears? Or David Johnson, the Steelers tight end? This year we have two D. Johnsons in the Texans backfield and two D. Williams in the Chiefs backfield (one of which has already opted out for the season). Sometimes the best draft advice of all is just making sure you know exactly who you are drafting. You got this.
