No one wants a stagnant roster. It's time to make some moves.

Let’s get into some buyin’, sellin’, and holdin’ ahead of NFL Week 7.

Buy

Between the Browns, Bills, Jets, and Raiders… We've had quite a few trades that shook up the league this week. In turn, they've been making waves in our fantasy football leagues, too. Let’s see what moves we need to make.

This week, we're buying:

TE David Njoku, Cleveland Browns

Like I mentioned last week, the writing was on the wall for a potential Amari Cooper trade. And now that Cooper's officially out of the Browns' depth chart, TE's are soooo back in.

Look, I know that the TE position has been historically bad this season. Aside from a select few (Brock Bowers, I love you), there has been very little reward coming out of the TE position.

Even Njoku himself has not been a great fantasy asset:

  • Week 1: 4-44-0
  • Week 2: Out
  • Week 3: Out
  • Week 4: Out
  • Week 5: 1-14-0
  • Week 6: 5-31-0

So why not trade for Njoku, who hasn’t had any “great” games so far this season? Well, he now has the potential for an upgrade in the absence of Cooper. There is, dare I say it… hope.

Look, I know Browns fans are tired. So very tired. But Nick Chubb should be returning soon. And at the very least, if the Browns continue in their sub-mediocrity, there’s always the chance that Jameis Winston gets a crack at it.

BOTTOM LINE: You don’t have to pay much for Njoku, but you could possibly secure a consistent TE with the potential for increased targets.

And at this position, that’s almost as good as you can ask for… Unless you’re trying to pay up for one of the big dawgs. (Roses are red violets are blue, hey Brock Bowers I love you.)

The Detroit Lions have BDE

No, we're not going to break down the meaning of the acronym. IYKYK.

GUYS! I think that we're all forgetting how HOT the Lions were in 2023!

I can remember exactly where I was when DET won their first division title since 1993. OH BABY! After that win against the Vikings, I was absolutely certain the Lions would win the whole damn thing in 2023.

Well… that last part never happened. BUT it was still incredible to watch and FEEL the hype unfolding in real time. You could feel the energy radiating from Dan Campbell & Co. that night.

I didn't realize it at the time, but that energy was obviously BDE. I know that now. I found out on Oct. 13, 2024 when the Lions embarrassed Jerry Jones on his f*cking birthday. We all did.

Watching DET drop 47 points and pulling out the entire playbook, all while Dallas was unable to even break double digits, was horribly entertaining! And looking back, the Lions are just as exciting to me in 2024.

Sure, I’ll try to temper my expectations. But like I said, they’ve got Big Detroit Energy.

Sell

NFL trades can send shockwaves across the league. Sometimes, it's in your best interest to capitalize on the hype that comes with a little “change of scenery.”

This week we're selling:

WR Amari Cooper, Buffalo Bills (wow… that feels weird to say)

This one's confusing, isn't it? Just last week, I told you to buy Amari Cooper. And I'm glad I did, because I do think Cooper's trip to Buffalo can only be a good thing for him (what could be worse than the Browns?).

But THIS week, I'm telling you to sell Cooper. Why the switch up? Well, it has a lot to do with your leaguemates' emotions.

First, let’s look at the cup half empty stats:

  • Cooper is ranked No. 1 in the league for dropped passes so far this year (9). Oof.
  • The Bills are ranked bottom-five in pass rate (28th). Double oof.
  • Cooper is headed to an offense that just lost its last WR1 due to complaints about targets. AGH!

But, alas! There is hope! Because I don’t fully buy into the half-empty narrative listed above.

I could tell you that only roughly 60% of Cooper’s targets were catchable in Cleveland. I could tell you that many of his passes were underthrown. I could remind you that even if the Bills want to continue to run the ball, this has to be viewed as an upgrade for Cooper.

BUT more than anything, I want you to get inside the mind of your opponents. They’ve been absolutely decimated by injuries this year and they’re panicking. Copper, therefore, is a shining light of hope with his new QB upgrade.

So If your leaguemates are willing to let their emotions get the best of them… f*ck it. Make them overpay.

At the end of the day, context is everything. Last week's "buy low" is this week's “sell high.” That's the stock market, baby!

But don’t panic sell. If your league isn’t paying up on the hype, I’d rather hold onto Cooper and see how this upgrade can affect your own lineup.

Hold

Sometimes we need to just take a second to think. Don't overreact.

This week, we're holding:

On… Just Hold On

Some of you are starting to give up. You're “quiet quitting” your fantasy league, and we all see it happening. PLEASE don't be that guy who stops paying attention to waivers just because he's 2-4 (or worse…).

Seriously. This is FAR from over. Most league rankings are only separated by two games or so at this point.

We're not shooting for perfection. All you need to do is make the playoffs.

Being 2-4 isn't a death sentence, but becoming dismissive and half-assing your way through the next few weeks is. Your lack of enthusiasm is what's holding you back from a comeback.

Suck it up. It's like they say: Scared money don't make money.

Stop playing scared.

WR Garrett Wilson, New York Jets

I know footballs are technically brown, but imagine for a second that they were… I don't know... I'm just spitballing here: Let's imagine for just a moment that footballs were blue.

And I want you to imagine that Garrett Wilson was promised to be WR1 material for your fantasy team multiple years in a row.

And I want you to imagine that you were promised 1,000+ yard seasons and tons of TDs with Wilson on your roster! Well, he nailed the 1,000+ yards part of that deal in 2022 and 2023.

But in 2022: The TDs never came.

In 2023: The TDs never came.

And in 2024… Just as soon as the TDs finally started coming:

  • Week 1: 6-60-0
  • Week 2: 4-57-0
  • Week 3: 5-33-1
  • Week 4: 5-41-0
  • Week 5: 13-101-1
  • Week 6: 8-107-1

BOOM: In Week 7, Davante Adams decided to come along, too.

So once again, our high hopes are abruptly shattered.

Anyways, what was I saying? Oh yea. In this imaginary scenario the balls wouldn't be brown. In this scenario, Garrett Wilson managers have blue balls…

So we won’t get the WR1 season we were promised. Again. But there’s still hope for decent WR2 production out of Wilson. Let’s not panic. Just hold — no one’s buyin.

RB Nick Chubb, Cleveland Browns

Unless you think he'll pull a Davante Adams and have to sit “due to injury” until he's traded to a new team and miraculously feels better, then you have to assume Chubb's going to play and take over his old role.

If that's the case, you've done the hard work of holding onto Chubb through his injury. Your bench has missed opportunities for waiver pickups. You’ve had to forgo a bench spot for valuable starters during Bye weeks.

Don't give that all away now just because someone sent you a trade offer the week before he returns.

Plus, David Njoku and Jerry Jeudy can't be the entire CLE offense. … Right?

Right?
