Even if you haven't drafted a single best ball team this summer, you can leverage the best ball market to dominate your home leagues.

There are two main reasons why comparing Underdog ADP to home league ADP can help direct you to the best values in managed drafts:

  1. Wisdom of the crowds. The Underdog ADPs (average draft position) have been compiled over thousands and thousands of drafts. So not only do we have a very large sample size, but that data comes in drafts where real money is on the line. This giant chunk of data thus gives us a strong "wisdom of the crowds" overview of how players should be valued from drafters with skin in the game.

  2. Line shopping. Each site has its own ADP, but none of them can match Underdog's from a quality standpoint because of the dynamic I just outlined above. A lot of other sites ADPs can grow stale because they are not refreshed as often. This means we can use the sharper ADP on Underdog to "shop" around for the best values. Depending on which site your draft is on, some players stand out as better values than others. In sports betting, line shopping is one of the most important things a bettor can do to maximize their potential winnings.

Luckily for you, I've compared Underdog ADP to three of the major managed league platforms–ESPN, Yahoo!, and Sleeper–to highlight the most extreme values, as well as some insights on how to attack your draft on those specific sites.

From a macro perspective, there are a few common themes across all of these sites compared to Underdog:

  • All of the best values on ESPN, Yahoo!, and Sleeper are WRs. The WRs go much, much earlier on Underdog. Some of that is driven by Underdog roster settings, but WRs are historically much better bets than the RBs outside of the top few rounds.

  • Conversely, RBs and QBs are much more expensive on the redraft sites.

  • Within the WRs, the most discounted cohort of players are rookies and second-year guys. This is likely a big mistake, considering the biggest breakouts often come from this exact cohort.

  • The biggest takeaway from this exercise should be to get elite RBs in Rounds 1 and 2 and then hammer pass catchers.

  • My perfect draft for each one of these sites would look something like this:
    • Rounds 1-2: RB, an Elite QB and Elite TE by Round 7, WRs in every other selection in the first 10 rounds

Non-WRs:

How to play it

There are a ton of great values on ESPN. The biggest thing that stands out is how cheap it is to attack the Jaguars passing game. With your Round 9, Round 10, and Round 12 picks, you can lock up the QB (Lawrence) and top two pass catchers (Kirk and Thomas).

I have a hard time imagining how Lawrence and at least one of those two WRs don't return massive value.

Some other undervalued pass-catching duos to target include the Packers (Doubs and Wicks), the Chiefs (Brown and Worthy), and the Bills (Samuel and Shakir). Taking two cheap stabs on these offenses gives you an affordable way to land a league winner.

The young WRs going in Rounds 6 and 7–Nabers, Dell, and Pickens–all look like smashes.

As far as the non-WRs, there are some nice prices on the TEs, although nothing compared to the WRs.

Because of this dearth of WR value in Rounds 6-10, I really like the idea of getting two elite RBs, an elite QB, and an elite TE early before hammering pass catchers after that.

How to play it

We covered most of the extreme values in our perfect Yahoo! draft last week, but it is worth re-emphasizing how absurd the pricing is on some of these WRs.

Nabers and Worthy need to be part of your redraft plans on Yahoo. While you are at it, grab one of Dell or Flowers in the 6th.

There are some nice discounts on the Elite TEs, as well.

All of this points us to grabbing a couple of RBs in Rounds 1 and 2, and then hammering pass catcher for a long time. Just don't forget to make a pit stop for Brooks in Round 9.

Unfortunately, the extreme values are harder to come by on Sleeper where the ADP appears to be more efficient.

The Packers WRs–Wicks and Watson–look like solid targets here.

You could also set up a Seattle bet with nice prices on Metcalf and Fant.
