When we attack a player prop, we want to attack overs with players in good matchups. No team has been more matchup-dependent through three weeks than the Cincinnati Bengals.
They struggled mightily in their first two matchups, unable to crack the code of the Cover 2 defense. Then last week, the Bengals took on a Jets defense who played Cover 2 just once and had the Bengals them, leading to more deep shots to Ja’Marr Chase.
While Chase may have finished with just 29 total yards, he saw double-digit targets and had a few drops on what would have been big plays.
Last season, he had six games with double-digit targets, averaging a ridiculous 152.6 receiving yards in those games. Before last week, Chase had seven games with 10 or more targets, finishing with 100+ yards in six.
Look for another heavy volume game again against the Dolphins on Thursday night football. The Dolphins have played Cover 2 on just 14% of snaps this season and love to challenge opposing receivers in man coverage. This should lead to another heavy volume game for Chase, as last year he had a 27% target share against man coverage vs. just 17% against zone.
I look for an explosion game for Chase on Thursday Night Football, and he is a player I will be targeting for ladder bets as well.
