After a small slate on Thursday, the MLB is back in full swing on Friday. All 30 teams are slated to be in action, and the weather report looks nearly pristine. There’s a chance for a late start in Braves-Mets, but the rain should clear early enough to get the game in.

Let’s dive into some of my favorite options for Friday’s 15-game slate.

MLB Bets Today – Picks for Friday, May 10

Cincinnati Reds-San Francisco Giants F5 Under 4.0 (-125; BetMGM)

Oracle Park in San Francisco is one of the most pitcher-friendly venues in baseball, and the will be two quality hurlers on the bump on Friday.

Logan Webb will get the ball for the Giants, and he’s a known commodity. He’s posted an ERA of 3.25 or better in each of the past three seasons, and he’s currently sitting at 3.50 in 2024. Some of his advanced metrics are a bit concerning, but those concerns are far more prevalent on the road than at home. Webb has pitched to a 0.82 ERA across 22 innings in San Francisco, and he owns a 2.35 FIP in that split.

Andrew Abbott isn’t quite as established as Webb, but he’s been excellent since debuting in 2023. He pitched to a 3.87 ERA across more than 100 innings last year, and he owns a 3.32 ERA and 3.04 xERA so far this season.

Both of these offenses will also be on the wrong side of their splits in this matchup. The Giants are merely 20th in wRC+ vs. southpaws, while the Reds are 27th in wRC+ vs. right-handers. Add it all up, and this game should start slow.

Tampa Bay Rays ML vs. New York Yankees (+108; FanDuel)

Taj Bradley will make his 2024 debut for the Rays on Friday, and I’m excited to see what he brings to the table. He was a highly-touted prospect – he checked in at No. 36 overall per FanGraphs in 2023 – and he averaged more than 11 strikeouts per nine innings as a starter last year. The rest of his numbers weren’t nearly as impressive, but there are reasons to believe in improvement in his sophomore season.

Bradley had two tune-up starts in Triple-A this season, and he was completely dominant. He allowed just one run and two hits over 11 innings, adding 15 strikeouts. He’ll obviously face a higher level of competition on Friday, but he seems up for the challenge.

The Rays’ offense also appears to be heating up. They’re sixth in wRC+ vs. right-handers over the past seven days, and they were one of the best teams in baseball in that split last season. They’re appealing home underdogs against Clarke Schmidt, who seems like a regression candidate (3.50 ERA, 4.43 xERA).

More MLB Bets for Friday, May 10

Pirates-Cubs F5 Under 3.5 (+100)

Happy Jared Jones Day to all who celebrate. Jones may be young, but he already might be a top-five starter in baseball. He ranks first in Stuff+, and he boasts a 2.95 xERA with elite strikeout metrics. He’s yet to allow more than three earned runs in a start this season, and he’s allowed one or fewer in three of his last four. Javier Assad doesn’t possess the same raw stuff as Jones, but he’s been nearly as effective in 2024 (1.66 ERA, 3.23 xERA). These guys should be able to keep the offenses at bay.

Braves-Mets Over 8.0 (+100)

The Braves are the best offensive team in baseball, and they draw an elite matchup Friday vs. Jose Quintana. His 5.95 xERA ranks in the ninth percentile, while his .317 xBA is in the second. On the other side, Charlie Morton is not the same pitcher he was in his prime, and the Mets’ offense is ninth in wRC+ vs. right-handers this season. Both of these teams have the potential to score runs in this spot.

Rockies ML vs. Rangers (+160)

Coors Field is on the docket on Friday, with Jon Gray taking on Austin Gomber. Gray is familiar with the Rocky Mountain altitude after spending seven years with the Rockies, and he owns a career 4.54 ERA at Coors. That’s not an awful figure, but Gomber has been better so far this season (3.68). I’ll take my chances with the Rockies as sizable home dogs.
