Multi-Sport Best Bets To Parlay With Super Bowl Picks: Eagles, Dodgers, Celtics, And More
- Boston Celtics to Win the NBA Finals (+250; DraftKings)
- Los Angeles Dodgers to Win the World Series (+310; DraftKings)
- Edmonton Oilers to win the Stanley Cup (+600; DraftKings)
- Justin Thomas to win WM Phoenix Open—Eagles to win Super Bowl (+2500; DraftKings) (Super Bowl Weekend Underdogs only—Golf/NFL parlay)
Geoff Ulrich and Matt LaMarca span multiple sports to parlay teams with Super Bowl picks.
I only have one gripe with the Super Bowl: it lasts only one day. Not only that, it’s a Sunday, so we all have to get up and go to work on Monday. It’s a real vibe killer. It’s never stopped me from grabbing that extra wing or adult beverage, but I at least feel guilty when I do so.
Fortunately, the same doesn’t apply to the betting space. Time is just a concept in the world of sports betting, so there are plenty of different ways to elongate your sweat.
Think about all the different tickets you’ve seen on social media over the past year, with people parlaying all the various champs in different sports. Think something like this:
Don’t you want to be one of those people?
Geoff Ulrich and Matt LaMarca are here to help, as they dive into some of the best bets to consider parlaying with a Super Bowl winner to try and make a big longshot ticket.
Boston Celtics to Win the NBA Finals (+250; DraftKings)
The Thunder have officially passed the Celtics to become the favorites to win the NBA Finals, and that makes sense. They have a slightly easier path to navigate in the West, while the Celtics will likely have to square off with the Cavs or Knicks in the Eastern Conference Finals. Those teams are third and fourth in the title odds respectively, with the Cavs in particular looking like a really tough out.
The Thunder have also been the better team during the regular season. They have a better record than the Celtics, and they’re first in the league in Net Rating. It terms of Simple Rating System—a metric that combines Net Rating and strength of schedule—the Thunder stand out as one of the best teams in league history. They’re very live to win the whole thing.
Still, I can’t help but ride with the defending champs at a slight discount. The Celtics have oodles of postseason experience, in addition to actually getting over the hump last year. The Thunder have yet to make it to even the Western Conference Finals, so winning a title would represent a big leap forward. They did get some postseason experience last year, losing to the Mavericks in the second round, but they might need to feel the sting of defeat one more time before tasting champagne.
The Celtics are the perfect team to pair with the Chiefs in a “juggernauts repeat” parlay. Speaking of which …
Los Angeles Dodgers to Win the World Series (+310; DraftKings)
I understand that this is a “boring” pick. That said, I think +310 is actually a really fair number on the Dodgers. They’re as low as +250 at other locations, so getting them above +300 represents a nice discount.
Consider this. The Dodgers managed to win 98 games last season, their 12th straight full campaign with more than 90 wins. They did that despite pretty subpar injury luck, and they still managed to win the World Series.
The Dodgers did not rest on their laurels this offseason. They added another ridiculous amount of talent, bringing in Blake Snell, Roki Sasaki, Tanner Scott, Kirby Yates, and a host of other players to cover up any potential weaknesses. Don’t forget that Shohei Ohtani is going to be back on the bump in some capacity, too, making the most valuable player in baseball even more valuable.
The baseball postseason is a bit more prone to upsets than some of the other sports, but the Dodgers are simply too deep and too talented. It would take a ridiculous level of injuries for this team to miss the playoffs, and they’ll likely earn a first-round bye as well. Are you willing to bet against this team winning a five- or seven-game series? I didn’t think so.
Edmonton Oilers to win the Stanley Cup (+600; DraftKings)
LaMarca has given you a couple of chalky picks to make Chiefs parlays with already, but here is one more. The Oilers are the current favorites to win Lord Stanley in the NHL, but they're priced quite decently, especially compared to the favorites in the MLB and NBA.
Even better is the fact the Oilers are currently in first place in their division and one of their conference rivals, the Stars, just lost their top defenseman for at least a couple of months. With the trade deadline approaching, the Oilers are also about to potentially solidify their status as the best team in the league with some big moves.
Goaltending is still an issue with the duo of Stuart Skinner and Calvin Pickard, but the Oilers rank behind only Carolina in xGF% this season at full strength. Carolina simply does not have the high-end 20 Edmonton does up front, and never will.
I think the Oilers are in great shape to come out of the West again, and even if they get Carolina in the finals, will be much more likely to come out victorious given their experience from last season.
Justin Thomas to win WM Phoenix Open—Eagles to win Super Bowl (+2500; DraftKings) (Super Bowl Weekend Underdogs only—Golf/NFL parlay)
This one is for the true sickos. I have no idea why anyone would want to parlay a golf outright with a game that happens AFTER the finish of the golf event—because hitting a golf outright and then sweating out a +100 underdog after would be a truly terrible thing.
However, it is Super Bowl weekend and there will be many who will want to roll right off watching the excitement at the 18th green in Phoenix and into the festivities of the big game in New Orleans.
If you’re doing that, why not parlay the two underdogs this week in the Eagles and Justin Thomas? Thomas has the second-shortest odds in the event this week (so he’s not an underdog in the golf sense of the word), but he is an underdog to favorite Scottie Scheffler, who holds a 7-0 edge vs. Thomas in terms of PGA wins since the start of 2024.
Scheffler is the PGA version of the Chiefs in every sense of the word right now, so if you’re betting against KC in the big game, why not parlay the Eagles with Thomas, who loves the course in Scottsdale this week and has finished top 5 there in three of his last five appearances.
With Thomas as big as +1200 on DraftKings, you can get a juicy +2500 number by pairing him with the Eagles and a solid four-day sweat if the American gets in contention.
