Sam Wallace is here to bring you the Dynasty Fantasy Football Guide to Week 6:

The fantasy football process looks (roughly) the same, regardless of the format you play--fantasy football waiver wire research on Tuesdays, trade considerations throughout the middle of the week, and setting lineups toward the end of the week.

That said, there are subtle nuances that dynasty fantasy football managers have to pay attention to in order to alter their strategy. To assist, I'll be consolidating everything a Dynasty Fantasy Football manager needs to know to prepare for Week 6.

Dynasty Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Target For Week 6

Dare Ogunbowale, RB - Texans

Depth at the RB position is something that you just can't get enough of, especially as you get further into the season and bye weeks and injuries start creeping up.

Dare Ogunbowale might be in the back half of his career, but he's still a viable pass-catching option for one of football's more explosive, fantasy-friendly offenses.

The absences of Joe Mixon (ankle) and Dameon Pierce (hamstring) have opened the door for Ogunbowale to top four receptions and 45 receiving yards in consecutive weeks. Those PPR points quietly add up nicely when you need to fill an emergency RB2 or Flex spot to cover your bye weeks or injuries.

Ogunbowale's value is likely tied to the health of Mixon and Pierce, but he's still worth a speculative stash in deeper formats if you have the space. This acquisition becomes even more necessary if you roster Mixon and/or Cam Akers.

Trade Targets for Dynasty Fantasy Football

Darnell Mooney, WR - Falcons

You like that?! Kirk Cousins kicked off Week 5 with a statement game-winning drive in regulation followed by a game-winning TD pass in overtime. His 509 passing yards and 4 TDs will almost assuredly be high-water marks for the season, but it was great to see Atlanta's passing attack get back on track.

While Drake London is the clear-cut WR1, it's Darnell Mooney who should be on the radars of dynasty managers. Mooney, who spent his first four seasons with the Bears, is thriving as the downfield complement to London in his first season with the Falcons.

Over his last four games, Mooney is averaging:

  • 9 targets
  • 5 targets
  • 78 receiving yards
  • 18 PPR

His usage is also encouraging. He's rarely leaving the field, earning a solid amount of targets, and commanding a nice chunk of the air yards.

Currently, Mooney is valued as a low-end WR4. Still only 26 years old, he should continue to be a key component of this offense. As long as Cousins is under center, this offense should efficiently move the ball. Even if the switch to Michael Penix happens at some point, I'm confident in taking a swing on Mooney at his current price point.

T.J. Hockenson, TE - Vikings

This one will cost you a bit more than the previous option, but veteran T.J. Hockenson (knee) is now within his window to return from IR. He last played in Week 16 of last season and should provide another viable option for the still-undefeated Vikings.

In each of the last two seasons, Hockenson has hit the following thresholds:

  • 127 targets
  • 86 receptions
  • 914 receiving yards
  • 5 TDs

Head coach Kevin O'Connell has Sam Darnold and his offense humming right now and getting back Hockenson could unlock another dangerous element to this squad.

As mentioned, Hockenson won't come cheap, especially in dynasty formats. However, now is the time to be aggressive. There's a good chance Hockenson is eased back in since the team is winning and shouldn't feel pressured to get him back to full speed from Day 1.

Getting a difference-making TE in dynasty leagues is challenging enough. Make the aggressive moves necessary when opportunities like this present themselves.

Player to Trade Away in Dynasty Leagues

Keenan Allen, WR - Bears

I assumed Keenan Allen would take a bit of a step back this season after joining the Bears, but I didn't think his production would tank quite this badly. He's already missed two games due to injury (heel) and he hasn't topped 35 receiving yards in any of his other three outings.

In a Week 5 performance that saw Caleb Williams top 300 passing yards and throw two TDs, DJ Moore served as the clear-cut WR1 with rookie Rome Odunze and Allen fighting for the WR2 role.

Allen is at the stage of his career where he's the oldest option on the field and lacks the explosive, play-making ability that both Moore and Odunze possess. While he's unlikely to regain his former role as the undisputed No. 1 target-earner, I would hold out hope for a nice bounceback game or two and then seek to flip Allen to a contending team.

There's the chance that Allen is just cooked and will never again amount to anything which means you could try to get what you can for him now. However, stay patient, a decent game (or two) will come. Keep the faith.

Breakout Watch

Adonai Mitchell, WR - Colts

Don't get me wrong, outliers and small sample sizes are a ton of fun. I enjoy playing around with them, hyping them up, and maybe even getting a bit too invested. At the same time, we have to be realistic about what's happening on the field.

Alec Pierce has played five games this season. He has 13 receptions. He has three TDs. He's averaging over 28 yards per reception.

Those numbers simply aren't sustainable.

That's why you need to be buying Adonai Mitchell.

The talented rookie has flashed on occasion this year but has been overshadowed by Pierce, Michael Pittman, and even Josh Downs. In Week 5, Mitchell set season/career-highs in targets, receptions, and receiving yards. He hasn't found the end zone yet but it's only a matter of time.

In dynasty leagues, Mitchell's slow start, combined with Pierce's highlight reels, should open enough of a door to acquire Mitchell before the breakout game occurs.

Oh, and sell high on Pierce while you still can.
