The fantasy football process looks (roughly) the same, regardless of the format you play--fantasy football waiver wire research on Tuesdays, trade considerations throughout the middle of the week, and setting lineups toward the end of the week.

That said, there are subtle nuances that dynasty fantasy football managers have to pay attention to in order to alter their strategy. To assist, I'll be consolidating everything a Dynasty Fantasy Football manager needs to know to prepare for the week at hand.

Dynasty Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Target For Week 9

John Metchie/Xavier Hutchinson, WR - Texans

The Texans are already working without start wideout Nico Collins and it looks like they might have lost another starter for the season. Stefon Diggs went down with a non-contact injury on Sunday and fantasy managers aren't optimistic about the pending news.

This leaves Tank Dell to work alongside young WRs John Metchie and Xavier Hutchinson. It's actually impressive how deep this pass-catching room is.

On the surface, neither Metchie nor Hutchinson offer much excitement. Still, they've been working behind Collins, Diggs, Dell, and even Robert Woods this season so it's not like they've had a ton of opportunities.

Xavier Hutchinson vs John Metchie Utilization

What we're banking on here as dynasty managers is an increased level of opportunity in an offense tied to C.J. Stroud. Stroud broke onto the scene last season and has shown an ability to elevate his offense.

Dynasty managers should be looking to roster either Metchie or Hutchinson (or both) if they have the available roster space.

Trade Targets for Dynasty Fantasy Football

Jordan Addison, WR - Vikings

Despite the Vikings prolific start to the season (5-2 through Week 8), it's been a disappointing season for Jordan Addison. He suffered an ankle injury even before the season started and then injured his other ankle in Week 1.

He missed Weeks 2 and 3 but returned in Week 4 when he scored his lone TD of the season.

That certainly helps explain his lack of overall production. Even so, he's seen his route participation top 90% in three straight weeks so the potential for future fantasy output is promising.

Jordan Addison Game Log

Addison profiles as a nice trade target in dynasty leagues. He's only 22 years old and topped 900 yards while scoring 10 TDs last season as a rookie. We know the talent is there. He was also the top wideout in his class courtesy of our Rookie WR Model.

At some point, the Vikings will have to find ways to include other weapons besides Justin Jefferson. Yes, he will still get his, but on Thursday night, the Rams did a decent job of taking Jefferson away during portions of the game. Addison will need to step up (and Sam Darnold will have to be willing to look his way).

Don't be afraid to send an early future first-round pick to land Addison in your dynasty leagues. Regardless of what the Vikings do at QB beyond this season, he's an elite talent with proven production and he likely won't get much cheaper than he is right now.

DJ Moore, WR - Bears

Week 8 was certainly a forgettable one for DJ Moore and the rest of the Bears offense. What was billed as a high-profile matchup between the top-two drafted QBs from this class was a defensive slugfest through three quarters.

The Bears had a chance to win it until Jayden Daniels threw a game-winning Hail Mary as time expired. Daniels is him.

Even so, fantasy managers shouldn't fret about Moore. He's still the clear-cut WR1 for this team and has double-digit PPR in five of seven games this season. What makes Moore an intriguing trade candidate is that he's now gone consecutive games without topping 10 PPR.

Isn't it fun how you can present data in different ways to make certain arguments?

With a Week 7 bye, Moore has essentially gone three full weeks without providing any fantasy value for his manager. Take advantage of that before Caleb Williams and this offense get back on track over the second half of the season.

Player to Trade Away in Dynasty Leagues

Adam Trautman, TE - Broncos

Knowing your league is arguably the most important element of strategy to have in dynasty leagues. It's good to have a general sense of how different managers value teams, positions, and players so that you can leverage that information to your advantage.

There's a good chance that someone in your dynasty league is what I refer to as a "Box Score Scout". This means that they skim ESPN or Sleeper and see which players had the most receiving yards, TDs, or fantasy points, and then make evaluations from there.

Managers like this can be sold over-achieving fantasy players based on superficial stats.

This week, Adam Trautman is that player. In his 4+ year career, he's never topped 45 targets, 30 receptions, or 270 receiving yards. Oh, and his career-high for TDs in a season is … three.

His Week 8 performance jumps off the page. He topped 60 receiving yards for the first time in his career as Bo Nix continues his ascent as a starting NFL QB. While I don't mind the idea that Nix could continue to elevate this offense, I'm selling a career-level game for a veteran TE in his fifth season.

Dynasty Fantasy Football Breakout Watch

Jalen McMillan, WR - Buccaneers

The loss of Mike Evans (hamstring) and Chris Godwin (ankle) has suddenly opened the door for someone, anyone, to step up in Tampa Bay. It's looking like that someone could be rookie wideout Jalen McMillan.

With Godwin done for the season and Evans sidelined for a few more weeks, Baker Mayfield has turned mostly to TE Cade Otton as his primary target. Even so, McMillan has 15 targets over his last two games despite turning them into 50 total receiving yards.

McMillan was drafted in Round 3 last spring and slotted in at No. 16 in our Rookie WR Model.

His opportunities are increasing and the potential for a bigger fantasy performance is certainly on the horizon.
