2025 Fantasy Football Rankings: Paul Charchian's Way Too Early Top 50
Welcome to my much-too-early top 50 fantasy players for the 2025 NFL season. Why do this exercise in January? Some of you beautiful degenerates will be drafting best ball rosters in February, so hopefully, this will provide some early offseason guidance.
Built into my rankings are my personal biases, notably that I don't trust runners as much as other experts. And I refuse to be the guy who punts tight ends, hoping Cole Kmet doesn't crap the bed on any given Sunday.
2025 Fantasy Football Top 50
1. Cin WR Ja’Marr Chase: Last season's triple crown winner brings zero downside to 1.01.
2. LAR WR Puka Nacua: From Week 10 forward, only Ja'Marr Chase had more targets.
3. Min WR Justin Jefferson: This ranking assumes that J.J. McCarthy will be a competent starter.
4. Phi RB Saquon Barkley: Even if he drops off by 20% next year, he could lead all runners in fantasy points.
5. TB RB Bucky Irving: Bucky is already in the conversation as the NFL's best runner and he could get better in year two.
6. LV TE Brock Bowers: People are going to lose their minds over this ranking but consider whether you're letting Bowers' premature hair loss overly impact your personal biases.
7. Det WR Amon-Ra St. Brown: He scored double-digit PPR points in 15 of 17 games.
8. Atl RB Bijan Robinson: His usage went berserk down the stretch, averaging 26 touches per game once Michael Penix took over.
9. Dal WR CeeDee Lamb: He was WR5 in PPR scoring before Dak Prescott's injury.
10. Bal RB Derrick Henry: Let's hope Henry has one more year before reaching the dreaded running back cliff.
11. Det RB Jahmyr Gibbs: Maybe this ranking is a tad high considering his shared backfield with David Montgomery, but he's so much fun to watch, he's worth a couple extra draft positions to get him on my team.
12. Hou WR Nico Collins: CJ Stroud's end-of-season improvement makes me feel more comfortable taking his main target at the end of Round 1.
13. Ari TE Trey McBride: McBride could see a 1000% increase in touchdown production next year.
14. LAR RB Kyren Williams: In a league with few workhorse runners, Williams saw the highest snap percentage of any runner by a mile.
15. CIN RB Chase Brown: He's a dynamic run-pass threat who saw a whopping 72% of the rushing attempts after Zack Moss went down.
16. Bal QB Lamar Jackson: Last year's highest scoring player could go as early as 1.01, but most drafters devalue quarterbacks, so you can probably wait until the middle of the second round.
17. Jac WR Brian Thomas Jr: His phenomenal rookie year was even better down the stretch, as he averaged 8-99-0.8 over the final six games.
18. Buf QB Josh Allen: There's zero downside with Josh Allen, and if Keon Coleman takes a year-two jump, Allen should expand on last year's tremendous season.
19. GB RB Josh Jacobs: Jacobs got stronger as the season progressed and scored touchdowns in nine straight games to finish the season.
20. Sea WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba: He blossomed in the second half of last year and should only get better in his third season.
21. Phi WR A.J. Brown: He was weirdly touchdown dependent, averaging just 6 half-PPR points per game when he didn't score.
22. Was WR Terry McLaurin: It was gratifying to see McLaurin become a legit WR1 when he finally had competent quarterbacking.
23. NYG WR Malik Nabers: Nabers showed a skillset that's ready to explode if New York can find a functional passer.
24. Car RB Chuba Hubbard: I defy you to find a rushing metric in which Chuba Hubbard didn't finish inside the top 10.
25. Phi QB Jalen Hurts: I'm probably stupid for ranking Hurts this low when he's scored double-digit rushing touchdowns in four-straight years.
26. Mia RB De’Von Achane: I love Achane's pass catching abilities, but I worry about over-spending for a runner who can't be a workhorse and can't break tackles.
27. NYJ RB Breece Hall: It's hard to muster enthusiasm for Hall's lackluster 2024, but hopefully a new coaching staff will better utilize him, especially through the air.
28. LAC WR Ladd McConkey: Over McConkey's final eight games, he averaged a Chase-like 7-107-.0.5.
29. Det RB David Montgomery: Monty is a reliable RB2 every week, and if anything happens to Jahmyr Gibbs, he has the upside to be the highest-scoring runner.
30. Buf RB James Cook: Cook's variable usage means variable production, but when Cook gets adequate volume he's a reliable RB1.
31. Ind RB Jonathan Taylor: Taylor is a bona fide workhorse with the league's highest rushing attempt percentage, 75%.
32. SF TE George Kittle: In past seasons, I've dinged him for missing games, but to his credit he's played in 34 of the Niners' last 37 games.
33. Was QB Jayden Daniels: If he gets better as a sophomore, Daniels has overall QB1 upside.
34. SF RB Christian McCaffrey: There's no bigger make-or-break draft pick than McCaffrey.
35. Atl WR Drake London: In a small but promising sample size, London averaged 7-117-0.7 in three Michael Penix starts.
36. CIN WR Tee Higgins: Future me will be adjusting Higgins' rankings based on his free agency landing spot and quarterback.
37. Hou RB Joe Mixon: If Houston finally addresses their awful offensive line in the offseason, I'll move Mixon up.
38. Den WR Courtland Sutton: Already a top-10 fantasy receiver, what happens if Bo Nix makes a big jump in year two?
39. TB WR Mike Evans: Who am I to say that Evans won't have a 12th-straight 1,000 season?
40. Mia WR Tyreek Hill: I'm pretty sour about Hill's lackluster 2024, but he averaged a decent 5-63-0.5 in Tua Tagovailoa starts.
41. NYJ WR Davante Adams: Adams will be 33 years old next year, which is a concern, but I'm more worried about the Jets' quarterback situation.
42. Ari RB James Conner: Last year, Conner lead all runners with a 29% broken tackle rate.
43. Det WR Jameson Williams: This ranking is buoyed by Williams' massive improvement from Week 11 forward, when he averaged 7-73-0.5.
44. KC RB Isiah Pacheco: 2024 was a lost season for Pacheco, but fully healthy next year, he likely goes back to his 2023 form.
45. Sea RB Kenneth Walker III: I'm nervous about Walker surviving a preseason battle against Charbs.
46. KC WR Rashee Rice: Rice looked absolutely amazing for three weeks before suffering his ACL injury, averaging 8-96-0.7.
47. CIN QB Joe Burrow: If I had to guess the 2025 passing touchdown leader, it'd be Joe Burrow.
48. NYJ WR Garrett Wilson: If Davante Adams winds up playing elsewhere in 2025, Wilson will make a big leap forward in my rankings.
49. NO RB Alvin Kamara: The end is near for a once-great player who managed just 3.9 yards per carry after Week 2.
50. NO WR Chris Olave: The concern for Olave isn't talent, it's his four (documented) concussions, the most recent of which knocked him out of the entire second half of the season.
