NFL roster cuts are here! Get… excited?…at the prospect of some would-be sleepers — and former sleepers — losing their jobs. But there are bound to be new beginnings, and as skill players depart, there are fantasy opportunities abound for players ascending the depth chart. 

And as they do, our experts will be updating their fantasy football rankings and projections.

Kadarius Toney cut by the Chiefs

 

Hope springs eternal with Kadarius Toney for fantasy players, but with JuJu Smith-Schuster signing with the Chiefs Monday night, the “is Rashee Rice getting suspended?” worries were extinguished with reports that Toney was the roster casualty. 

Toney is the perennial “he could pop IF…” candidate. Could he be Curtis Samuel? At one point maybe he was early-career Tyreek Hill? In reality he may have a Mecole Hardman ceiling (likely now without the Super Bowl heroics) but he will probably catch on somewhere with a team that wants to take a shot on his potential. 

Who benefits: Skyy Moore? Misanthropic Giants fans who said he would never do anything in KC?

Best speculative landing spot: Carolina, where there's a chance to find some targets. Maybe the Giants? But that will happen in Madden and nowhere else

Worst speculative landing spot: The Eagles. But this is where he'll probably land, especially if you drafted him in best ball hoping for an occasional 125-yard-and-a-TD game. Hey, if you have him in Scott Fish Bowl, keep your fingers crossed for those possible return yards!

Isaiah Spiller cut by the Chargers

Securing the RB3 (for now) job for Kimani Vidal. I know Thor Nystrom believes Vidal is going to take over at some point this year. – Paul Charchian

Deneric Prince cut by the Chiefs

…Leaving the RB room with just Pacheco, CEH, and intriguing UFA Carson Steele. – Charchian

D'Onta Foreman cut by Cleveland

All D'Onta Foreman does when given the opportunity is have big games. Of the 14 times in his career where he's gotten 15 or more carries, Foreman has gone over 100 rushing yards eight times. He's gone over 80 rushing yards 11 times. And yet his destiny lies with another team, as Cleveland cut him on Tuesday. 

Charch's take: Jerome Ford looks like the undisputed starter (Paul has him ranked 25th among RBs)

What about everyone else?: Our consensus rank of Ford is RB37, putting him below Zack Moss and ahead of Brian Robinson. 

A.J Dillon placed on IR

AJ Dillon’s season is over. 

With Lloyd likely headed to IR for the 1st 4 games, looks like a big start for Josh Jacobs. At least. --Jorge Martin
