Week 9 of the NFL season was arguably the most entertaining of the season, and Pete Overzet is here to deliver his NFL Week 9 highlights:

It's time for Pete's Pick 6—actually, scratch that … this week, we're calling it Pete's "Pic" 6 because Week 9 has been littered with iconic moments.

I just got the roll of film back from the weekend's action, so let's check out all of the other highlights and snapshots that are joining the epic Garrett Wilson jumpman shot, as the week's most memorable pictures.

The Best Highlight From NFL Week 9

The Backward Barkley Hurdle

Early in the second quarter of yesterday's Eagles/Jags game, Saquon Barkley snagged a screen pass, slipped the first guy, hit the second guy with a spin move, and then did this.

I've seen plenty of NFL players attempt hurdles (I feel like Trey McBride does it at least once a game), but a backward hurdle? I mean, that requires an absurd amount of spatial awareness and athleticism to pull off while a handful of defenders are closing in on you. It's like the NFL version of And1 Mixtapes. We're going to need to start calling Barkley "Hot Sauce" or something if he keeps this up.

It wasn't just one highlight, though, Barkley finished the day with a massive fantasy line–199 total scrimmage yards and 2 TDs.

I really wish I would have drafted more of this guy.

More NFL Week 9 Highlights

The Roast Of Derek Carr

Man, how far we've come since we were writing about the Derek Carr-led Saints being a "legit wagon" (sheesh, that take did not age gracefully) after starting the season with two massive wins.

Fast forward to yesterday, when the Saints lost to the Panthers, arguably the worst team in football heading into the week.

Carr's box score was fine (236 yards and 1 TD), but it comes nowhere close to telling the whole story.

Mid-way through the first quarter he threw a hospital ball over the middle of the field to Chris Olave, who was subsequently concussed after a nasty collision.

This prompted Carr's former WR, Michael Thomas, to sound off on him via his X profile:

Oof, tough scene.

To add insult to injury, Carr is now the first QB in NFL history to lose to 31 different franchises

Drake Maye's Magic Moment

Look, I know the Patriots lost this game, but Drake Maye has officially arrived and it's glorious.

On the final play in regulation, Maye hung in the pocket for an eternity, broke a defender's ankles with a sick side step, and then evaded two more defenders before lobbing the game-tying TD to Rhamondre Stevenson as he was brought to the ground.

It's one thing for a weathered NFL vet to have this kind of pocket presence and elusiveness, but it boggles the mind coming from a rookie in his fourth career start. His stats over the past month are incredibly impressive.

Also, while we are here, let's go ahead and say it: not going for 2 and the win after this TD was a chicken shit decision by Jerod Mayo and the team. You have to let your red-hot QB get a crack at an encore there for a chance to win the game. So cowardly.

Ejection Sunday

Week 9 featured two players getting ejected from games.

The most iconic of the two was Lions safety Brian Branch, who after getting tossed for a helmet-to-helmet hit, served up a double bird for the fans at Lambeau on his way out:

Pretty funny, if we're being honest.

The more devastating of the two, though, was Puka Nacua. At the end of the second quarter, he threw a punch at a Seahawks defender and was promptly ejected.

It's been an absolute rollercoaster of emotions for Puka managers this year. From having to survive five weeks without him to watching him crush on TNF vs. the Vikings only to learn that he got injured in practice this week but then exhaling when the Rams said he was good to go for today's game but then watching him exit the game with only 1.6 fantasy points.

I'd like a refund for that ride.

JSN's Explosion

Jaxon Smith-Njigba's rookie year was derailed by injuries and Shane Waldron, so his Week 9 explosion–7-180-2–marks his official breakout party as he set career-highs in both receiving yards and TDs.

There had been plenty of whispers in fantasy land (myself included) about whether JSN wasn't as special as his prospect profile indicated and if he'd ever be able to step up and operate like a true alpha.

But with DK Metcalf out of the lineup, JSN stepped up to the plate and made big catch after big catch.

Best of all, I can finally say I'm even on him after he was my most drafted player in best ball last year.

The Headstand Celly Meta

I don't know where or when the "headstand celebration" started, but it was on full display in Week 9.

First, Drake London did it with his teammates after scoring his TD and then later in the afternoon, Amon-Ra St. Brown did it as well. Check out this incredible shot:

Although, it's just now dawning on me that London didn't play another snap with a hip injury after this TD and celebration. I swear to God if he aggravated his hip doing a handstand …

Let's go ahead and be done with this meta. It had a great run. Time to move on to safer celebrations. How about shaking hands? Maybe a hug?? How about we just wave to each other? Ya, I like that.
