Daniel Jones has officially hit the free agent market. But what are the best landing spots for Daniel Jones? Specifically for fantasy players?

History may never again see a crowd turn on a player like they did Daniel Jones. From the moment he was drafted, he was overrated and undeserving of our love and admiration. People still use videos of him falling on that long would-be TD run four years ago to reference some kind of futility. “The Trip” became the new “Butt Fumble”:

And then something magical happened. Jones was benched for Tommy DeVito by a (now)wildly unpopular coach, who skipped over Drew Lock for reasons we may never truly know.

Jones gave a sweet press conference, decided to be a safety for the scout team, asked for his release, was granted the release, and was then essentially given a week-long virtual parade and eulogy, where nearly anyone who has ever seen a football game bemoaned his lack of OL, his inconsistent coaching, talked up what a nice guy he is, and sobbed over the fact he never got a real shot at stability to show what he could do.

So now Jones is a free agent. He can choose his next team. And that choice, which could be coming at any moment, will help determine what really matters: his value to us, as fantasy players, for the rest of the 2024 season.

Can he pull a Baker Mayfield? Is he being wooed longer-term by a franchise with a stable QB? Let’s daydream for a moment about where we’d like to see Jones end up …

Best Landing Spots For Daniel Jones In Free Agency

Could Daniel Jones Become A Las Vegas Raider?

Jones could step right into a starting QB role on a team that has a new OC in Scott Turner—and he likes to pass, based on his previous stops as an OC. Jones won’t have a lot of top-line options for targets, but Brock Bowers is one of the most dynamic rookies in the league, Tre Tucker has shown flashes, and Jakobi Meyers can be a consistent 8-10 target receiver in the right offense. And hey, Terrace Marshall is on the practice squad! Fantasy players loved him as a sleeper when he was with Carolina!

Would former Giant Antonio Pierce make a hard push for Jones to see what he might offer the team in the future? A fantasy player might see an end-of-season run with some 18-22-point games if they let him run.

The Jacksonville Jaguars Make Sense For Daniel Jones

Look, this is a selfish list. Jones would have a very strong shot at starting here and that’s kind of all we care about. But it would be more apparent dysfunction for a guy who is just leaving dysfunction. He would be reunited with Evan Engram (who had some nice quotes about Jones four years ago) and have another electric rookie in Brian Thomas. Plus, Travis Etienne is an adept pass-catching back, who had 73 targets last year.

We wouldn’t expect more than 16-ish PPG if Jones took over for the stretch run of games here, but Doug Pederson would likely let him run loose.

Will Daniel Jones Replace Aaron Rodgers?

We’re just doing this because we needed a third team, but look—Aaron Rodgers miiiight be on his way out. Jones wouldn’t have to move. Poor Tyrod Taylor would have to sit behind Jones again. Jordan Travis would still be a smart dynasty add. And just for Jones the fantasy asset, he’d have STUDS to throw to.

Maybe he has a string of big games and wins four in a row for the Jets, which could get him headlines for weeks, good vibes heading into Christmas, and a shot at a starting job in 2025. But a lot has to happen for Jones to pull this off, including supplanting a popular locker room guy who already knows the offense in Tyrod Taylor.

The Most Entertaining Landing Spot For Daniel Jones

Revenge Is A Dish Best Served Cold

If you've been living under a rock and haven't perused X (or Bluesky, now!) for the latest speculation, then you likely missed the murmurs about how chaotic (and poetic) it would be for Jones to sign with the Dallas Cowboys.

Whether or not Jerry Jones would greenlight this isn't important. What is important is imagining just how hilarious it would be to see Jones take his first snap with a new team … on Thanksgiving … against his former team.

NFL scriptwriters, if you're reading this, take notes …

Plus, landing in a situation where you get to throw to CeeDee Lamb certainly has its benefits for fantasy football, though maybe more for Jones than Lamb.
