Before we get into my favorite tight ends for fantasy football Week 6 …

For the rest of my favorite fantasy football plays for Week 5, sorted by position, see below:

Best TEs for Fantasy Football Week 6

Dalton Schultz (Texans) at Patriots

  • Texans: -7
  • O/U: 38
  • TT: 22.5

Hear me out. Why are you walking away?

Look, any fantasy analyst can say, "Hey, you know what? I like Trey McBride."

Cool. So do I. Big fan of the 9 targets he got last week.

But only a true sicko—a degenerate's degenerate—can recommend Dalton Schultz with a straight face.

Of course, I'm wearing a clown suit as I type this sentence, but, still, I'm highlighting Schultz nevertheless.

Here's what he has going for him.

  • He might be decent at football. His career mark of 7.0 yards per target is livable.
  • The Texans are productive through the air, as QB C.J. Stroud is No. 4 with 277 yards passing per game.
  • No. 1 WR Nico Collins (hamstring) seems likely to sit, so there could be extra targets available for Shultz.
  • The Patriots could be without SS Kyle Dugger (ankle) and FS Jabrill Peppers (shoulder), both of whom missed last week.

If you're looking for someone available on waivers, Schultz might be a surprisingly good desperado option.

The Hot Route

Pat Freiermuth (Steelers -3, TT: 19.75) at Raiders: Deride all you want, but the Muth is No. 1 on the team with 2 TDs receiving and No. 2 with 23 targets, 20 receptions, and 178 yards receiving. The Raiders are No. 31 in defensive pass DVOA against TEs (34.2%) and are without SS Marcus Epps (knee, IR).

Dallas Goedert (Eagles -8.5, TT: 26) vs. Browns: It's not ideal for Goedert that WRs A.J. Brown (hamstring) and DeVonta Smith (concussion) are likely to return out of the Week 5 bye, but he still has a good situational matchup against the Browns, who are without FS Juan Thornhill (calf, IR) and could also be without SS Grant Delpit (head), No. 3 S Rodney McLeod (head), and LBs Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah (undisclosed) and Jordan Hicks (elbow).

Noah Fant (Seahawks +3, TT: 23.25) vs. 49ers: With a 66% route rate, Fant is at least on the field when the ball is being thrown, and SS Talanoa Hufanga (wrist) and FS Ji'Ayir Brown (ankle) are dealing with injuries.

Juwan Johnson (Saints +3, TT: 19.25) vs. Buccaneers: Joker TE Taysom Hill (ribs) neither practiced nor played last week, so he could be out once again. If so, Johnson is a possibility for deep leagues. Absent Hill for most of the past two weeks, Johnson has had a 70% route rate, and SS Jordan Whitehead (groin) and FS Antoine Winfield (foot) might not be available.
