Week 14 Fantasy Football Takeaways: Kendre Miller, Josh Allen, and More
The final week of the regular fantasy football season is nearly complete, and Cooterdoodle is here with her biggest Week 14 fantasy football takeaways:
It's time for Pete's Cooterdoodle's Pick Six—a weekly recap column that gives you the biggest and best fantasy takeaways from Sunday's games.
TAKEAWAY 1: THE NY GIANTS ARE SO COOKED, BRO
There's at least one Giants fan who continues to convince himself each week that "it can't get any worse". And each week, New York continues to let that one Giants fan down.
Not only did the Giants let Saquon Barkley take his talents to the Eagles this season, but they've now been through their entire carousel of QBs since cutting Daniel Jones, and it's not getting any better.
You just can't convince me that the Giants even want to win a game at this point. Does this look like a team that's trying to you?
Giant's Week 14 Highlights:
- Drew Lock threw 8 times in the first quarter. Of those, 8 were incomplete.
- Four (Yes, I said FOUR) of NY drives started within 2 yards of the 50-yard line. The Giants scored 3 total points on those four half-field drives.
- Drew Lock had a chance to rush for a 1st down! He instead pivoted away from a clear path, right into two defenders.
The Giants look to go 2-12 in Week 15 against the Ravens, as their (accidental?) tanking saga continues … You're going to have to start paying the fans to attend.
TAKEAWAY 2: PAIR YOUR CHARBONNET WITH TDs
Zach Charbonnet really aged like a fine wine, didn't he? We just needed to rest him in the dark cellars of our fantasy benches for 13 weeks first.
Charbonnet was officially uncorked on Sunday when he torched Arizona's defense through the air, ground, wind, and water. Seriously, the Cardinals just couldn't stop him. Charbonnet rushed for 134 yards and 2 TDs, but he also caught 7 passes for an additional 59 yards. Not too shabby for a backup RB that you grabbed off waivers! (Surprise your Hero RB leaguemate with this one simple trick!)
When healthy, Kenneth Walker has finished as the RB15 or better in 6 out of 10 games. And Mr. Charbonnet is just picking up right where he left off.
So if Walker sits again in Week 15, fantasy managers just might have another huge Charbonnet week on their hands … You know … During the FIRST ROUND OF THE FANTASY PLAYOFFS!?
Crack open a bottle of red vino, baby.
TAKEAWAY 3: PUKA-COOPER-NACUA-KUPP IS INEVITABLE
Look. I can't even get boners and I was pitching a tent during the entirety of the Bills/Rams game on Sunday afternoon.
After weeks of recovery for both Puka Nacua (Weeks 2-7) and Cooper Kupp (Weeks 3-7), they've both come back full force.
It feels very similar to 2023 when Nacua finished with 1,486 yds and 6 TDs and Kupp hauled in 737 yds for 5 TDs. The only difference being that their 2024 stats are obviously muted by their multi-week injury stints.
With Nacua (178 yds, 2 TDs) and Kupp's (92 yds and 1 TD) performances in Week 14, you've almost assuredly secured yourself a spot in the playoffs for the foreseeable future. Your Puka-Cooper-Nacua-Kupp is going to win games.
The Puka-Cooper-Nacua-Kupp is inevitable.
TAKEAWAY 4: DENNIS ALLEN'S WORST NIGHTMARE
Remember when Kendre Miller was supposed to be the "next big thing" in New Orleans' backfield in 2023?
This year, he's been playing peek-a-boo with fantasy managers— popping in and out and back onto IR. Before this week, Miller missed 11 out of 13 games this season. And while he's been out, Dennis Allen wasn't shy to take cracks at Miller's frequent injuries and work ethic during press conferences.
But before he was fired, Allen's last parting gift to New Orleans was tossing Miller onto IR again before Human Resources could even finalize the paperwork for Allen's termination. And since then, we've been waiting.
Well, The Curse of Dennis Allen was officially broken in Week 14. Miller rushed 10 times for 32 yards and a TD. SWEET, SWEET VICTORY!
Miller even took a few grown-ass men into the endzone with him for his first TD of the season.
If you didn't see it happen live, just trust me. It was hot. There wasn't a dry seat in the house for the 2023 Miller Truthers who finally got to cash in on their "Dennis Allen Ruined Kendre Miller" props.
TAKEAWAY 5: YOUR BACKUP'S BACKUP SCREWED IT UP
*Morgan Freeman Voice* In a world … where one backup running back had the chance to save your fantasy team from elimination …
His backup screwed it up! He stole half of the carries and a MF'in touchdown, too!
UGH. Week 14 shoved our metaphorical feet right into our big, fat metaphorical mouths. Because it never really was about Breece Hall or Braelon Allen, was it?
While a 21-83-1 stat line would've been super sweet for longtime fantasy benchwarmer, Braelon Allen, we never got to see that one come to fruition.
Instead, Isaiah Davis stole half the workload and the only rushing TD of the day with his 10-40-1 debut, resulting in a mid-level performance from Allen (11-43-0), the backup that was promised.
Thankfully, both RBs also brought in a few catches on the day, resulting in double-digit fantasy points for each in PPR leagues. But that TD was meant for Allen.
TAKEAWAY 6: SEARCH PARTY OVER - JETTA FOUND!
Until Sunday, we hadn't seen much of Justin Jefferson. He hadn't scored an NFL touchdown since Week 7. WEEK SE-VEN! And his month-long struggle to break 100 yards was crippling fantasy teams everywhere:
- Week 10: 5-48-0
- Week 11: 6-81-0
- Week 12: 2-27-0
- Week 13: 7-99-0
But I'm happy to say that we can officially call off the search dogs, because Sam Darnold got that dawg in him and he let it out on Sunday.
Darnold propelled both Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison into league-winning territory with their combined 15 receptions for 265 yards and 5 TDs in Week 14. Talk about a dopamine rush!
If you clinched the playoffs on Sunday because of Darnold & Co., congratulations.
But remember, you still need this insane connection to continue through the fantasy playoffs …
BONUS - TAKEAWAY 7: Josh Allen IS KEEPING US FED
Every good story has multiple acts with some trials to overcome. Josh Allen has it all:
- Underdog story.
- Broken man fighting against the system.
- Best friends to enemies.
- 6 TD Dopamine machine.
Josh Allen IS the entertainment industry. Win or lose, he'll always feed us with a great story.
