Week 18 Fantasy Football Rankings: Mike Evans, Jahmyr Gibbs...and Chaos
Sam Wallace highlights a few players from our Week 18 Expert Rankings.
First off, if you're playing for a fantasy championship in Week 18 of the NFL season, you better have a conversation with your league commissioner this offseason. There have been talks about moving fantasy leagues up a week so they end in Week 16 (like the good ol' days!) on the heels of what has been a complete cluster of a Week 17.
Regardless, the Fantasy Life team has you covered with everything you need to dominate until the final whistle is blown on the 2024 NFL Season.
As always, if this isn't enough to sate your fantasy hunger, please check out our Weekly Rankings and the Start/Sit Tool throughout the week.
Week 18 Fantasy Football Rankings Updates
Mike Evans, WR - Buccaneers (Consensus WR4)
For a few weeks during the middle of the season, it looked like Mike Evans was in jeopardy of losing his streak of consecutive 1,000-yard seasons. However, he returned with a vengeance in Week 12 and has been on an absolute tear ever since.
In fact, he now sits just 85 yards shy of eclipsing 1,000 receiving yards for the 11th time in as many professional seasons. Evans is also closing in on some very tantalizing contract incentives this weekend. He needs just five receptions and the aforementioned 85 yards to cash in on an additional $3 million.
Confidently trot out Evans in all fantasy formats this weekend as he closes in on another historic milestone.
Jahmyr Gibbs, RB - Lions (Consensus RB1)
I'd like to give a big shoutout to the NFL scriptwriters for giving us the greatest season-ending matchup we could ask for. The Lions (14-2) host the Vikings (14-2) with the winner securing the No. 1 seed, first-round bye, and home field advantage throughout the playoffs.
The 14-win loser will drop to the No. 5 seed and will travel on the road for their first playoff matchup.
Say what you will about the fairness of a 14-win team playing a road playoff game, it doesn't get much better than this for the final regular season game of the year.
As such, without his running mate in David Montgomery, Jahmry Gibbs will once again be tasked with handling as many touches as he can manage. The elite, dual-threat tailback's skill set will be on full display Sunday night and, based on our rankings, you won't find a better fantasy option for Week 18.
Let's enjoy the ride.
Jauan Jennings, WR - 49ers (Consensus WR16)
Veteran wideout Jauan Jennings is having a surprise breakout season at 27-years old and needs just 77 yards to hit the 1,000-yard mark.
The 49ers offense has been decimated by injuries this season but it's been awesome to see the veteran step into a larger role in the absence of Brandon Aiyuk and every single RB on the roster.
Despite scoring his six total TDs across just three games, our rankers feel pretty good about Jennings heading into the final week. It does sound like Brock Purdy (elbow) could miss this week but Josh Dobbs should still be able to move the ball well in this offense.
Fun fact, Dobbs and Jennings were teammates in college so feel free to lean into that narrative this weekend as well.
Cooper Kupp, WR - Rams (Consensus WR39)
How the mighty have fallen. Cooper Kupp went from averaging 18 points per game from Weeks 8-14 (while scoring 5 total TDs) to suddenly imploding during the most important three-game stretch for fantasy managers.
Take a look at just how bad the fantasy playoffs were for Kupp.
To make matters worse, Puka Nacua averaged 18.1 points per game from Weeks 15-17 which, if it wasn't clear before, cements him as the true No. 1 receiving option for Matthew Stafford.
Our rankings don't even view Kupp as a WR3 this week so hopefully you have other options if you're playing for anything meaningful in Week 18.
