The final weekend before the 2024 NFL season is here--AKA, the final weekend to jam in as many fantasy football drafts as you can.

Fantasy Football draft strategy ebbs and flows depending on what site you are drafting on. Below are three tips that I came across throughout our analysis this offseason to guide you through your Yahoo fantasy football strategy to help you win your league.

How to Dominate the First 10 Rounds in Yahoo Fantasy Football

Many people say that fantasy football drafts are won in the later rounds and on the waiver wire. While the importance of each of those cannot be understated, the early rounds carry importance, too.

Peter Overzet broke down the perfect start to your first 10 rounds in a Yahoo draft:

Round 1 - Elite RB

Round 1

The biggest difference between managed and best ball leagues right now is how much earlier RBs go on sites like Yahoo and ESPN. On Underdog, you can start up to 4WRs, so locking up that pass-catching firepower is mandatory.

But in this specific format, not only can we start the same amount of RBs as WRs (2 + a flex), but the shaky RBs are going much higher in the early rounds while attractive WR targets are pushed down.

This leads me to wanting to lock up true bellcow backs in the early rounds at a fair price and then zagging away from the priced-up options in Rounds 3 and 4.

Locking up one of Christian McCaffreyBreece HallBijan Robinson, or Jonathan Taylor would be my preference in Round 1.

Round 2 - Elite RB

Round 2

A similar dynamic unfolds in Round 2. While I do love Puka Nacua, the WRs going in Rounds 3,4, and 5 aren't that much different than the ones going in Round 2. This once again pushes me to lock up another RB with an elite ceiling.

The backs who also catch passes–Jahmyr Gibbs and Kyren Williams–would be my preference, but I wouldn't fault anyone for taking the plunge on Derrick HenryIsiah Pacheco, or Travis Etienne either.

Round 3 - QB

Round 3

I'm going through an identity crisis right now. No WRs in the first three rounds? Who am I? Who have I become??

Once again, I like some of the pass catchers here, but they are nearly indistinguishable from the options available in the subsequent rounds.

This presents us with a great opportunity to lock up an elite QB with a massive ceiling. As we discussed in the piece last week, this will allow us to get off to a fast start in our league with a fully optimized starting lineup.

I know you are getting sweaty at WR, don't worry. We're about to cook…

Strategy for Rounds 4 through 10 on Yahoo Fantasy

Fantasy Football Value Picks on Yahoo Fantasy

Of equal importance on every fantasy football site is ensuring you get the most bang for your buck when targeting fantasy football ADP.

Here are players that Kendall Valenzuela thinks are particularly mispriced in Yahoo fantasy football drafts this season.

Malik Nabers

Sure, the Giants might not be the sexiest team in 2024 for fantasy football, but besides looking for value, we're also looking for upside. And Malik Nabers has tons of that.

During the weeks and months leading up to the NFL Draft, Nabers was talked about as being a top wide receiver prospect, and there were reports that some teams even had him ranked as the No. 1 rookie WR prospect over Marvin Harrison. Dwain McFarland wrote in the WR Rookie Super Model that “these two players are closer than many want to believe", and he even had Nabers as the No. 3 highest-graded WR prospect since 2018.

Fast forward a few months, and now Nabers is the No. 1 WR for the Giants. That alone should place him much closer to where Fantasy Life's rankings have him rather than where he's currently going on Yahoo.

Look, if Darius Slayton is saying that Nabers is a clone of Ja'Marr Chase, we have to believe him…right?!

Starting at the top, yes, we should be somewhat concerned about the QB situation in New York with Daniel Jones coming off an ACL tear. However, Jones recently said that his recovery has gone "pretty smooth" and that there have been no setbacks. The most important thing to look at with Nabers this season in fantasy football is that he should have little competition for targets.

The Giants' WR room consists of Nabers, Wan'Dale Robinson, Jalin Hyatt, Darius Slayton, and Isaiah Hodgins. We also have to remember that New York lost RB Saquon Barkley in free agency, and TE Darren Waller just retired (maybe for a music career?) in early June.

Here's how Fantasy Life's projections have the Giants' WR room shaking out in 2024:

  • Nabers: 131 targets, 85 receptions
  • Robinson: 74 targets, 57 receptions
  • Slayton: 50 targets, 30 receptions
  • Hyatt: 43 targets, 25 receptions

We might not be that excited about Jones or potentially even Drew Lock under center throwing to Nabers, but if Nabers really gets the kind of target volume being projected above, then I'm definitely excited to be buying in at his current Yahoo ADP.

Three More Values to Target on Yahoo

A Yahoo Fantasy Football League Winner?

Identifying pillars to build your roster around is vital in fantasy football. Ahead of 2024, Dwain McFarland outlined a handful of players that possess league-winning upside based on several factors, including fantasy football ADP.

Jayden Daniels | QB | Commanders

  • Yahoo ADP: QB14 (117)

Over his collegiate career, Daniels posted a 14% scramble rate and averaged 17% of the designed rushing attempts — both great signs for future rushing production. His final two seasons at LSU were particularly impressive, in which Daniels maintained an enticing average of 90 yards per game.

Since 2011, we have had 21 instances of a QB recording 100 or more rushing attempts while passing for fewer than 3,500 yards. That group averaged 20.3 fantasy points per game and finished with an average of QB8 in points per game. Only three failed to secure a top-12 finish.

All the other QBs with the upside to hit 100-plus attempts go well ahead of Daniels.

To be able to acquire a QB with a dual-threat profile in Round 10 is a gift. Even if Daniels fails as a passer in his rookie season, he has a great chance to pay off his ADP. However, if he is even an average passer, he will challenge for a top-six finish.
