Overreaction Monday: Dolphins to the Super Bowl?
Itās 10/16. Take it away, Peter Overzetā¦
Yesterday the 2-2 Browns beat the 5-0 Ninersā¦with P.J. Walker at QB.
Eagles fans proceeded to taunt Niners fans on X.
You can guess what happened nextā¦
The 2-3 Jets beat the 5-0 Eagles (for the first time in franchise history)ā¦with Zach Wilson at QB.
And now we are left with zero undefeated teams left in the NFL.
If we are being fair, Iād argue the Ninersā loss was more justifiable. They played the majority of the game without Christian McCaffrey and Deebo Samuel and still could have won the game if their third-round pick, Jake Moody, nailed the 41-yard field goal at the end of regulation.
The Eagles, though? Iām not sure what their excuse is. The Jets secondary was depleted heading into the game and they still managed to turn the Eagles over four timesā¦
The Eagles and Niners now join the Chiefs, Dolphins, and Lions as 5-1 teams.
Read on for my Weekly Wrap-Up spotlighting all of the top fantasy performers from Week 6, as well as Kendallās overreactions from yesterdayās action.
š MNF Shootout!!!
Will Kellen outwit his old boss?
Cowboys vs. Chargers has no shortage of juicy storylines... none more interesting than Kellen Moore's explosive Chargers offense going mano a mano with Mike McCarthy's implosive Dallas offense!!! Will Kellen get the better of his old boss and cover the 1.5 point spread?

Speaking of bets...
š¤ Geoff Ulrich is betting: Michael Gallup anytime TD (+230)
āGallupās resurgence this year has been impressive and is still going a little under the radar for betting and fantasy purposes.
Heās matched CeeDee Lamb in target share (19%) through five weeks and has a bigger aDOT (10.77) than the Cowboysā number one WR as well. Despite the near-equal match in usage, Gallupās TD odds remain quite longer than Lambās (+235 vs +122) for Week 6, making him the preferred target.
In terms of matchups, this also might be a spot to play Gallup in some bigger tickets (multiple TDs). Despite already having a bye, the Chargers have allowed the fourth most TDs to opposing WRs on the year (6) and will likely have their minds on containing Lamb.
Gallup should be in a prime spot to benefit on Monday Night Football.ā
Tyreek Hill put up a pedestrian 6-162-1 TD. It might seem like Iām joking when I say āpedestrianā and yet these performances are so typical for Hill that itās more shocking when he doesnāt get loose for a big day.
Itās impossible to top what Tyreek and the Dolphins RBs are doing on a weekly basis, and yet Cooper Kupp and Kyren Williams are giving them a run for their money.
Of all the 5-1 teams, the Lions are the most likely to get lost in the shuffle. They didnāt scorch the earth like the Dolphins, or fall on their face like the Eagles and Niners, but they continue to rack up impressive wins:
Jared Goff (353 passing yards and 2 TDs) and Matthew Berryās ride-or-die, Amon-Ra St. Brown (12-124-1), currently sit as the QB1 and WR1 on the week after carving up the Bucs creamsicle defense.
Casual NFL fans might be confused why I would highlight a team that lost 24-16 to the Commanders and whose QB threw three INTs, but in fantasy football, it doesnāt have to be pretty to get the job done.
Arthur Smithās passing āattackā finally gave us what weāve long wantedāa week where Drake London and Kyle Pitts produce big games in tandem:
Desmond Ridder (QB4): 307 yards and 2 TDs
London (WR5): 9-125
Pitts (TE3): 4-43-1
The Falcons wonāt get to face the Commanders secondary every week and the team lost, so we probably shouldnāt get used to itā¦
If we redrafted today, heād be a Top 5 overall pick. The only backs Iād want ahead of him ROS would be CMC, Ekeler andā¦
Nope, thatās it.
š¤« This spot is permanently for Adam Thielen
This weekly wrap-up is turning into a masochistic exercise for your idiot narrator who faded Thielen in drafts this year.
My punishment? A Sisyphean-esque assignment to write about Thielenās gaudy stat lines in this space for the rest of eternity.
So letās get to itā¦in Week 6, he torched the Dolphins for 11 catches, 115 yards, and 1 TD with most of the damage coming from the slot:
See ya again next week, Mr. Thielen.
The Fantasy Life FREE Bet Tracker is already loaded with a handful of plays for Thursday Night Football, and Geoff Ulrich is here to give you a peek behind the curtain with one of his best bets for the gameā¦
We're humans who play fantasy football, which means we are prone to overreact. Today, Kendall overreacts to standout stats from Week 6ā¦
How about those San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles?! All of a sudden they looked pretty mortal.
The 49ers went up against a Cleveland Browns team that was without their starting quarterback, and according to Sheil Kapadia from The Ringer, a Shanahan-style offense has never scored more than 24 points against a Jim Schwartz-coached defense.
Looking at their schedules before Week 6, my money was on the Philadelphia Eagles taking a loss before the 49ers, especially when their schedule features games against the Dolphins, Cowboys and Chiefs in the next four weeks. But hey, why not have them both lose on the same day?! Any given Sunday!
Let me tell you, though, there were some HEAD-SCRATCHING touchdowns in Week 6. Ones where I sometimes saidā¦ who?! Now we love points anywhere we can get them, but not at the expense of OUR guys, right?!
I guess congratulations are in order for Jaguars tight end Brenton Strange and Bengals wide receiver Andrei Iosivas who scored their first touchdowns of the season! And would you look at that Falcons team ā we got a double touchdown day from BOTH tight ends in Kyle Pitts and Jonnu Smith (thank you, Arthur Smith).
For this Overreaction Monday, here are some of my favorite stats from Week 6 that Iām definitely overreacting toā¦
š¬ Dolphins Super Bowl or BUST
Yes, this really is just another excuse to talk about the Dolphins, BUT there were some pretty sweet stats thrown out there after their win against the Carolina Panthers!
We all know that Tyreek Hill and Raheem Mostert have had incredible seasons so far, but they have actually combined for 17 touchdowns, which is tied for the most through six games by any duo in the Super Bowl era.
I donāt think if you told me that stat in mid-June I would have believed that those two would be the fantasy duo crushing it during the 2023 season, but here we are.
Mostert has 105.20 fantasy points through six weeks, and Hill has 132.50.
Oh, and if youāre wondering why itās Super Bowl over everything for this Dolphins team this season hereās why: on Sunday the 2023 Dolphins joined the 1958 Colts as the only teams in NFL history to record 15 rushing touchdowns and 15 receiving touchdowns through six games of a season.
The Colts won it all that season.
š§ Donāt worry, the 49ers are still really damn good
Yeah, Iām not looking forward to the conversations that will surround Brock Purdy and the 49ers this week.
Honestly, my overreaction will be to not listen to them! Purdy came into Week 6 with a perfect 10-0 record as a starter for San Francisco, and the team hadnāt lost a regular-season game since October 23, 2022.
Surprisingly, it was the Browns (as mentioned above) that handed the 49ers their first loss of the season. Purdy played against one of the best defenses in the league, and even with his struggles during this game he still put the team in a position to win. He finished the day 12 of 27 for 125 yards and one interception. They may have been knocked off their undefeated throne, but theyāre still one of the best teams in the league and will continue to prove that.
š Sorry, Patriots fans but this was funny
Heading into their Sunday game against the Las Vegas Raiders, the Red Sox had outscored the Patriots in October (6-3) and only played one game the entire month. LOL.
Oh yeah, and that Ezekiel Elliott touchdown in the third quarter? That touchdown snapped a streak of 12 straight quarters without a touchdown for the Patriots, which was the longest streak in franchise HISTORY.
Iām still firmly a believer that Mac Jones is not the answer, but I hope he proves me wrong.
š I like the tush push and I donāt care who knows it
Maybe I like the newly named Brotherly Shove because I have Jalen Hurts as my quarterback, BUT whatever.
Hurts had his 12th career game with a passing and rushing touchdown, which tied Michael Vick for the 3rd-most in Eagles history. I mean seriously, just watch this play.
