Tier 2 – Justin Fields
Fields is the No. 2 QB over the last four games, with 28.1 points per game.
He is averaging a mouth-watering 12.3 rushing attempts for 102 yards per game over the last four contests and has a rushing TD in three consecutive games. While it will be challenging to keep up this pace, underlying data points suggest the rushing attempts will continue to pile up.
First, Chicago is getting their young superstar more involved in the designed-run game over the last three weeks (21%), and he leads the NFL in scramble rate (17%) on the season.
Additionally, regardless of the game script, the Bears run the ball more than most NFL teams:
- Trailing by four-plus points: 47% (3rd)
- Within three points: 48% (5th)
- Leading by four-plus points: 72% (2nd)
This weekend, Fields draws a great matchup against the Lions, who allow the fourth-most rushing attempts per game (29.5) in non-overtime play. Opponents average 149 yards and 1.6 TDs.
Of course, the Lions are also terrible against the pass, with PFF’s third-worst coverage grade (52.1), and Chase Claypool should operate as the No. 2 across from Darnell Mooney after another week to integrate into the game plan.
The overall game environment is ripe for a lot of points, with the second-best game total and the fifth-highest team total.
Fields is an absolute SMASH play this weekend and ranks as my No. 4 QB.
Tier 3 – Kyler Murray
Murray is a game-time decision due to a hamstring injury, according to Kliff Kingsbury. He practiced in a limited fashion over the last two days, which is a positive sign. However, Murray comes with a lot of risk as a late-game option who might not be able to bail out his fantasy managers with rushing yards.
Jimmy Garoppolo (Sunday Night Football) is available in 47% of Yahoo! Leagues and is the best pivot option. Colt McCoy is Murray’s backup and is an emergency replacement option.
Murray slips to low-end QB1 territory.
Additional QB Notes & Movers:
- Tier 1 – Josh Allen is questionable for Week 10 due to a sprained elbow. If he plays, Buffalo could lean away from their pass-first mentality. Allen managers should prepare to find an alternative. He is the QB3.
- Tier 2 – Tua Tagovailoa averages 337 yards and 2.8 TDs in non-injury games this season. The Dolphins are scheming unique looks for their speedy WRs, and the third-year QB has been the perfect point man. Miami has a top-four team total and the second-best game total on the slate. Tagovailoa is a mid-range QB1 this week.
- Tier 3 – Jimmy Garoppolo has three top-12 finishes in his last four starts, averaging 278 yards and two passing TDs. He isn’t an exceptional passer, but Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, and George Kittle make up one of the top-three skill position groups in the NFL. Garoppolo has Tagovailoa-like upside if Kyle Shanahan decides to throw more. He is a great streaming option as a low-end QB1.
- Tier 5 – Matthew Stafford entered the concussion protocol on Tuesday, making his availability this weekend extremely shaky. John Wolford would start if Stafford can’t go – which wouldn’t be good for Cooper Kupp.

Tier 1 – Christian McCaffrey
McCaffrey scored 40 fantasy points as he regained his elite utilization status in his second game with the 49ers.
- Snaps: 81%
- Rushing attempts: 75%
- Route participation: 69%
- Target share: 36%
Now he gets a matchup against a Chargers defense that struggles to stop the run, allowing the fourth-most yards per game (144) in non-overtime play.
The 49ers have the third-highest team total on the slate and are seven-point favorites at home.
McCaffrey barely misses the No. 1 overall rank thanks to Saquon Barkley’s elite matchup against the Texans, but CMC could easily finish as the top RB option in Week 10.
Tier 2 – Travis Etienne Jr.
Etienne delivered a juicy 20.9 fantasy points per game over the last four weeks, and his utilization and efficiency data suggests the production will continue.
Since Week 7, the 2021 first-round pick posted an 80% snap share. He is one of only a handful of backs to receive that sort of treatment – he dominates rushing attempts and passing downs.
Week | Snaps | Rush Att | Routes | Targets | TPRR | SDD Snaps | i5 Att | LDD Snaps | 2MIN Snaps | PPR |
7 | 80% | 58% | 45% | 12% | 25% | 57% | 25% | 91% | 82% | 18.9 |
8 | 79% | 73% | 59% | 11% | 15% | 100% | 100% | 63% | 100% | 25.2 |
9 | 81% | 78% | 67% | 7% | 9% | 100% | 50% | 33% | 100% | 26.6 |
YTD | 59% | 46% | 51% | 9% | 16% | 54% | 41% | 72% | 91% | 14.2 |
He sports the No. 5 PFF rush grade (90.6) and ranks highly in multiple efficiency metrics.
- Missed tackles forced per attempt: 32% (5th)
- Average yards after contact: 3.21 (16th)
- 10-plus yard attempts: 14% (12th)
If he could improve in one area, it would be in the receiving game. His TPRR (16%) and YPRR (1.05) are below historical RB2 thresholds. He was the No. 1 graded receiving back by PFF in his senior year at Clemson, but that hasn’t played out yet in the NFL.
The Jaguars are almost double-digit dogs this weekend at Kansas City, which could lead to more passing and an opportunity for Etienne to get rolling in the receiving department.
Etienne is a SMASH play as a mid-range RB1 in Week 10.
Tier 3 – Dalvin Cook
Cook has quietly bogarted an 83% snap share over his last three games thanks to an expanded role on passing downs.
Week | Snaps | Rush Att | Routes | Targets | TPRR | SDD Snaps | i5 Att | LDD Snaps | 2MIN Snaps | PPR |
1 | 77% | 71% | 71% | 12% | 13% | 71% | 0% | 80% | 89% | 13.8 |
2 | 69% | 67% | 63% | 13% | 19% | 100% | 0% | 80% | 44% | 7.6 |
3 | 61% | 68% | 32% | 0% | 0% | 100% | 100% | 73% | 38% | 15.6 |
4 | 62% | 77% | 43% | 6% | 10% | 60% | 0% | 13% | 100% | 10.6 |
5 | 57% | 58% | 40% | 5% | 12% | 50% | 67% | 30% | 38% | 26.1 |
6 | 87% | 76% | 46% | 4% | 6% | 100% | 0% | 78% | 100% | 15.3 |
8 | 76% | 74% | 52% | 20% | 27% | 90% | 100% | 88% | 100% | 25.1 |
9 | 86% | 77% | 64% | 9% | 11% | 67% | 100% | 86% | 100% | 13.7 |
YTD | 71% | 71% | 51% | 9% | 13% | 77% | 75% | 63% | 64% | 16.0 |
The Bills only allow the fourth fewest yards on the ground (103) in non-overtime play, but a driving factor is their ability to play from ahead. Their run defense grade is the fourth-worst (43.0) over the last four games, per PFF.
If Josh Allen (elbow) misses the game or can’t perform at his usual level, this game could remain closer than expected. That creates an opportunity for the Vikings to exploit the Bills' recent weakness against the run.
While Cook’s utilization has been fantastic, he has also been more efficient than the average NFL back across the board. These two factors, together, make him a great target at the trade deadline.
Cook is due for a blowup performance and is a top-10 RB this weekend despite the tough matchup on paper against Buffalo.
Tier 3 – Dameon Pierce
Over the last two games, Pierce has added the two-minute offense to his list of primary duties, accounting for 75% of those snaps.
Week | Snaps | Rush Att | Routes | Targets | TPRR | SDD Snaps | i5 Att | LDD Snaps | 2MIN Snaps | PPR |
1 | 29% | 41% | 12% | 3% | 20% | 43% | 0% | 0% | 0% | 4.9 |
2 | 63% | 79% | 37% | 3% | 7% | 100% | 100% | 8% | 0% | 8.7 |
3 | 58% | 80% | 26% | 7% | 22% | 57% | 100% | 0% | 0% | 18.2 |
4 | 68% | 100% | 51% | 18% | 32% | 80% | 0% | 7% | 0% | 25.9 |
5 | 79% | 81% | 50% | 22% | 38% | 100% | 100% | 20% | 0% | 20.3 |
7 | 52% | 87% | 29% | 10% | 33% | 50% | 0% | 9% | 0% | 15.7 |
8 | 78% | 88% | 59% | 12% | 15% | 100% | 0% | 23% | 100% | 14.1 |
9 | 78% | 96% | 56% | 0% | 0% | 80% | 0% | 11% | 60% | 13.9 |
YTD | 62% | 80% | 39% | 9% | 20% | 70% | 100% | 10% | 20% | 15.2 |
In Week 9, that didn’t translate to additional targets (0). However, over time that should change, given his 20% TPRR, which has met the RB1 threshold since 2010. From an efficiency perspective, the rookie back has the No. 6 PFF rush grade, ranks fourth in missed tackles forced per attempt (0.34), and averages the seventh-most yards after contact (3.80).
The Giants allow the sixth-most rushing yards (137) per game in non-overtime play and grade as PFF’s seventh-worst run defense. Assuming Pierce’s limited practice (chest) on Wednesday was just precautionary, he should be a massive part of the Texans' game plan and take advantage of this matchup.
He is a SMASH play as a top-12 RB.
Tier 3 – Aaron Jones
Jones (ankle) was knocked out of last week’s game and left the locker room in crutches. However, he was removed from the injury report after three limited practice sessions this week and is good to go against the Cowboys.
The veteran RB had clearly distanced himself from A.J. Dillon as the primary back in Weeks 5 to 8, handling 59% of rushing attempts. That trend changed in Week 9, with Jones and Dillon near a 50/50 split even before Jones’ day ended with an injury.
Without an injury designation, Jones rejoins the RB2 conversation, but he might not be 100%, and Dillon could challenge for more touches.
Tier 3 – Jonathan Taylor
Taylor was removed from the injury report after two full practices to end the week. The third-year back averages only 12.6 points per game.
Despite his health challenges, Taylor remains respectable in missed tackles forced per attempt (9th), average yards after contact (23rd), and explosive rush rate (18th) out of 47 RBs with at least 50 attempts. That isn’t terrible, considering the Colts rank 29th in PFF run-blocking grade (53.3).
Taylor is still clearly the best option in this backfield. Deon Jackson won’t play, leaving Zack Moss as the secondary option.
Taylor is a high-end RB2 option with upside.
Tier 4 – D’Andre Swift
Swift practiced in full on Friday and was removed from the injury report. Last weekend, Swift was upset about his usage after only playing 10 snaps, according to OC Ben Johnson.
Before last week, the limited version of Swift amounted to limited opportunities on the ground, but he remained the lead option on passing downs. However, he saw his lowest route participation of the season.
Week | Snaps | Rush Att | Routes | Targets | TPRR | SDD Snaps | i5 Att | LDD Snaps | 2MIN Snaps | PPR |
1 | 67% | 54% | 66% | 8% | 12% | 50% | 0% | 100% | 0% | 26.5 |
2 | 51% | 21% | 57% | 15% | 24% | 0% | 0% | 93% | 100% | 16.7 |
3 | 41% | 21% | 49% | 11% | 18% | 10% | 0% | 71% | 44% | 7.6 |
8 | 54% | 26% | 57% | 15% | 24% | 38% | 0% | 88% | 82% | 14.3 |
9 | 16% | 6% | 28% | 19% | 57% | 0% | 0% | 36% | 0% | 8.0 |
YTD | 29% | 16% | 32% | 8% | 22% | 12% | 0% | 51% | 39% | 14.6 |
Johnson remained non-committal on how much the Lions will use Swift this weekend, but his removal from the injury report and his desire for more snaps could lead to a workload more like Weeks 2, 3, and 8.
That allows the Lions to limit hits to his shoulder running between the tackles while also providing explosive upside in a passing game that is light on weapons.
Swift is a low-end RB2 with upside.
Additional RB Notes & Movers:
- Tier 1 – Saquon Barkley draws the No. 1 rushing matchup in the slate against the Texans, who allow 32.4 attempts for 179 yards and 1.5 TDs per game in non-overtime play. Per BetMGM, the Giants are 5.5-point favorites, and Barkley could be an absolute monster this weekend. He is the RB1 overall.
- Tier 3 – Antonio Gibson came up small in the Week 9 box score, but his underlying utilization was sweet with J.D. McKissic out. The Eagles should build an early lead over Washington (double-digit dogs), which could mean more Gibson sooner this week, assuming McKissic doesn’t go. The third-year back ranks eight spots ahead of consensus as a mid-range RB2 with upside.
- Tier 4 – The Lions face off against the Bears, who allow the third-most rushing attempts per game (30.3). Jamaal Williams has sneaky RB1 upside if D’Andre Swift is limited to under 20% of the rushing attempts again.
- Tier 4 – Tony Pollard could return to a committee rotation this weekend, with Ezekiel Elliott questionable as a game-time decision. However, the Cowboys have shown a commitment to the ground game, and the Packers allow the fifth-most rushing yards (138) in non-overtime play. Pollard is a low-end RB2, but if Elliott can’t go, he moves into RB1 territory.

Tier 2 – Amari Cooper
Cooper is on pace to set a career-high target share (28%) and has double-digit looks in four out of eight games.
Week | Routes | TPRR | Targets | ADOT | Air Yards | EZ Tgts | 3rd/4th Down Targets | PA Targets | PPR |
1 | 91% | 18% | 20% | 10.0 | 26% | 0% | 25% | 0% | 4.7 |

YTD | 90% | 25% | 28% | 13.6 | 40% | 41% | 35% | 17% | 15.4 |
The eighth-year WR ranks 11th in YPRR (2.14) and is on pace for 1,175 yards and 10 receiving TDs thanks to a strong connection with Jacoby Brissett. Cooper is dominating man coverage in 2022 with a mind-blowing 35% TPRR (5th) – a trend that goes back three seasons.
This weekend, he gets a dream matchup against the Dolphins, who have the worst PFF coverage grade (47.6). Additionally, the Dolphins use the second-most man coverage (41%) in the NFL. The last time Cooper faced Xavien Howard (2019), he posted six catches for 88 yards and two touchdowns.
Cooper is in a SMASH spot against Miami and is a top-12 WR.
Tier 3 – Chris Olave
Olave has acclimated quickly to life in the NFL. Of 64 WRs with at least 200 routes, he ranks highly across multiple data points:
- PFF receiving grade: 81.3 (10th)
- TPRR: 26% (7th)
- YPRR: 2.38 (7th)
If the season ended right now, Olave would join a “Who’s Who” list of rookie WRs to eclipse the 80.0 PFF receiving grade. To say things are looking up for the former Ohio State Buckeye would be an understatement.
With Michael Thomas out for the season and Jarvis Landry still on the sidelines, Olave has shown an ability to demand targets even as the focal point of opponents. Now he gets a matchup against a Steelers defense that ranks in the bottom-10 in PFF coverage grade, allowing 277 yards and 2 TDs to opposing pass catchers in non-overtime play.
Olave is a SMASH play as a high-end WR2 with upside against Pittsburgh.
Tier 3 – JuJu Smith-Schuster
Smith-Schuster is averaging 22.2 points over the last four weeks as the No. 2 option behind Travis Kelce.
The veteran WR has historically been a 17-19% TPRR player, which aligns with his performance this season (19%). However, his 1.91 YPRR would be his best since 2018 if the season ended today.
In some offenses, his target rate would be problematic. However, the Chiefs are pass-heavy in all game scripts.
- Trailing by four-plus points: 81% (2nd)
- Within three points: 73% (2nd)
- Leading by four-plus points: 61% (5th)
We shouldn’t expect the veteran WR to continue to live inside the top 12, but he has a solid WR2 vibe going with Patrick Mahomes averaging 45.4 dropbacks per game in non-overtime play.
The Chiefs have the No. 1 team total on the slate against the Jaguars, and Smith-Schuster is a mid-range WR2.
Tier 4 – Terry McLaurin
McLaurin is averaging a respectable 15.2 points per game with a 28% target share over the last three contests. His connection with Taylor Heinicke is evident.
Week | Routes | TPRR | Targets | ADOT | Air Yards | EZ Tgts | 3rd/4th Down Targets | PA Targets | PPR |
1 | 94% | 7% | 8% | 18.3 | 20% | 0% | 9% | 33% | 13.8 |
2 | 89% | 15% | 17% | 12.9 | 25% | 0% | 30% | 43% | 12.2 |
3 | 90% | 18% | 23% | 16.2 | 45% | 0% | 15% | 0% | 16.2 |
4 | 94% | 14% | 16% | 16.0 | 31% | 33% | 23% | 17% | 3.5 |
5 | 98% | 14% | 17% | 9.5 | 18% | 0% | 11% | 33% | 12.6 |
6 | 100% | 16% | 19% | 6.5 | 19% | 100% | 33% | 50% | 8.2 |
7 | 97% | 24% | 26% | 13.3 | 48% | 25% | 31% | 38% | 18.3 |
8 | 92% | 22% | 28% | 13.6 | 62% | 0% | 25% | 13% | 16.6 |
9 | 100% | 21% | 32% | 9.4 | 38% | 0% | 25% | 71% | 10.6 |
YTD | 94% | 17% | 20% | 12.9 | 33% | 19% | 22% | 31% | 12.4 |
However, Washington has the lowest team total on the slate, and Philadelphia has the fourth-best PFF coverage grade (80.5). The Eagles allow the fourth-fewest passing yards per game (200) in non-overtime play.
McLaurin’s recent surge in targets is positive, but he slips back into WR3 territory this weekend, making him a FADE.
Additional WR Notes & Movers:
- Tier 1 – Stefon Diggs might not have Josh Allen (elbow) this weekend. However, he and Case Keenum played together in 2017 and had a connection. If Allen can’t go, Diggs would downgrade slightly but remain in the top-seven WRs.
- Tier 1 – Cooper Kupp is in serious jeopardy of not having Matthew Stafford, who entered concussion protocol on Tuesday. John Wolford would step in if Stafford can’t go, and Kupp would downgrade to a mid-range WR1.
- Tier 2 – Amon-Ra St. Brown appears to finally be healthy again, demanding monster targets over the last two games (26% and 43%). The Sun God is due for a solar flare eruption, and the Bears provide the fourth-worst EPA pass defense. St. Brown is a low-end WR1, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
- Tier 3 – Christian Kirk faces a Kansas City defense allowing the third-most points (64.5) to pass catchers in non-overtime play. The fifth-year WR has a 27% target share over the last four games. He is a mid-range WR2.
- Tier 4 – Joshua Palmer will serve as the lead WR option again with Mike Williams and Keenan Allen out for the Chargers. Palmer delivered 18.6 points on a 24% target share last weekend. He faces a 49ers defense with the worst pass EPA over the last four games. Palmer is a low-end WR2.
- Tier 4 – Darnell Mooney leads the Bears with a 28% target share. He has averaged 58.5 receiving yards over the last four games and could be due for his first 100-yard performance thanks to a tasty matchup against the Lions. Detroit allows the third-most yards (279) in non-overtime play. Mooney is a high-end WR3.
- Tier 4 – Allen Lazard saw a season-high 26% target share last weekend against the Lions. He could have had a huge day if not for penalties. However, this weekend he faces the No. 1 PFF coverage unit in the Dallas Cowboys, and the Packers have the fifth-worst team total. Lazard remains just outside of WR2 territory.
- Tier 5 – Mack Hollins gets a slight bump with Darren Waller and Hunter Renfrow placed on IR. Hollins isn’t an elite target earner (16% target share), but he could look more like a 20% option with the thin depth chart. He is a WR4 option against a Colts defense that is getting healthier.

Tier 2 – George Kittle
Kittle is the No. 2 TE in fantasy over the last three games, averaging 17 points. However, his TPRR (19%) is well below his last three campaigns (26%, 31%, and 28%), and now the 49ers have four mouths to feed with Christian McCaffrey onboard.
The fifth-year TE continues to provide blowup upside, but he needs the coaching staff to dial up more passing plays for his recent success to continue.
Kittle is a high-end TE1 with a boom-bust profile; fingers crossed for the boom.
Tier 3 – T.J. Hockenson
Hockenson registered a surprising 84% route participation and delivered his second-highest point total of the season (16.0) in his first game with the Vikings. His 27% target share was second on the team behind Justin Jefferson.
The Vikings are a pass-first offense, and Hockenson has an opportunity to serve as the No. 2 option. Adam Thielen has a 20% target share on the season, but his YPRR (1.32) is down for the fourth consecutive season. The 32-year-old WR isn’t the same player he once was.
Hockenson is a solid mid-range TE1 against the Bills.
Tier 3 – Dalton Schultz
Schultz has battled injuries all season but was showing signs of life before the Cowboys’ bye week with 20% and 24% target shares. Those numbers came despite 55% and 64% route participation due to elite targets per route (31% and 33%), demonstrating continued chemistry with Dak Prescott.
The veteran TE has practiced in full all week and was removed from the injury report, clearing the way for a strong finish to the 2022 season.
Schultz is my No. 6 TE this weekend, which is four spots ahead of expert consensus.
Tier 4 – Greg Dulcich
Dulcich’s career is off to a hot start with three top-12 finishes, and his utilization profile backs it up. The rookie has eclipsed the 80% route threshold and has two 20%-plus target shares under his belt.
Week | Routes | TPRR | Targets | ADOT | Air Yards | EZ Tgts | 3rd/4th Down Targets | PA Targets | PPR |
6 | 81% | 11% | 13% | 12.0 | 14% | 33% | 29% | 0% | 12.4 |
7 | 72% | 26% | 20% | 8.4 | 16% | 0% | 13% | 11% | 11.1 |
8 | 91% | 16% | 21% | 22.8 | 39% | 0% | 25% | 0% | 12.7 |
YTD | 29% | 18% | 7% | 13.3 | 9% | 4% | 6% | 6% | 12.1 |
Dulcich has the 11th-highest PFF receiving grade (74.4) and sixth-best YPRR (1.88) out of tight ends with 75 routes.
The Titans allow the second-most fantasy points to pass catchers per game (66.2) in non-overtime play, creating room for upside coming off the bye.
The third-round NFL draft pick is a mid-range TE1.
Additional TE Notes & Movers:
- Tier 4 – David Njoku indicated he would be ready for Week 10, but he didn’t practice on Wednesday. If he goes, Miami is a good matchup and has the potential for a shootout environment. Njoku is a mid-range TE1 if he suits up.
- Tier 3 – Pat Freiermuth could be in for more targets with slot receiver Chase Claypool in Chicago. The two players operate in a similar area of the field on underneath routes, and Freiermuth’s 23% TPRR 23% and 1.82 YPRR comps favorably to top-six TEs since 2010. The Saints are historically tough against TEs, keeping the second-year TE in low-end TE1 territory.
