Tier 3 – Dak Prescott

Prescott depends on efficiency to score fantasy points in 2022, thanks to a Cowboys offense that is no longer pass-heavy. Dallas passes the ball less than the NFL average in most situations:

  • Trailing by four-plus points: 68% (+0)
  • Within three points: 55% (-4)
  • Leading by four-plus points: 45% (-5)

Since his return to the lineup, the veteran QB averages 19.2 points per game and has finishes of QB18, QB4, QB8, QB10, QB17, and QB12.

In all but two games, Prescott’s success has come via yards per attempt (YPA) except for Week 10 (46 attempts). Last week, he salvaged his day with three TD passes, but the passing yards were down due to lower efficiency.

This week, the Cowboys are plus-two-TD favorites against the Texans, which will push some to fade Prescott. While Dallas might not need to throw much, no other stat correlates more strongly to winning games in the NFL than passing YPA. If Dallas is going to trounce Houston, there is a good chance the veteran QB still comes through.

Prescott is averaging 7.8 yards per attempt since his return from injury, which isn’t out of line with his previous seasons: 8.0, 6.8, 7.4, 8.2, 8.4, 7.5.

The Texans' defense has the lowest PFF coverage grade (45.3), and we have seen Prescott get to 250-plus yards and multiple TDs in three out of his last five opportunities when Dallas passed 30 times or less.

Prescott is a low-end QB1 despite the heavy-favorite status in Week 14.

Additional QB Notes & Movers:

  • Tier 4 – Jared Goff’s weapons are getting healthy, with DJ Chark, D’Andre Swift, and Jameson Williams vying for more snaps. He averaged 290 yards and two TDs over the last two contests, and the Lions could be pushed to score in a shootout against the Vikings, who allow the most non-overtime passing yards per game (298). Goff is a low-end QB1.

Tier 1 – Joe Mixon

Mixon returned to practice on Wednesday and is out of concussion protocol, and he will regain the starting RB role.

The veteran RB’s efficiency has been lackluster this season. Out of 52 backs with at least 60 attempts, he ranks 44th in missed tackles forced (0.11), 49th in average yards after contact (2.40), 41st in 10-plus-yard attempts (7.6%) and 31st in PFF rush grade (74.9).

While those numbers aren’t great, Mixon has a good shot at getting things on track this weekend against a Browns team with the second-worst PFF run defense (34.4). Cleveland allows 128 yards and 1.3 TDs per game in non-overtime play.

Cincinnati has targeted their starting running back on 25%, 14%, 17%, and 23% of passes in the last four games. Ja’Marr Chase was out until last week, so that is a factor, but we could see Mixon with more passing-game work than originally anticipated.

The Bengals are near-TD favorites and carry a top-10 team total. The Bengals convert their drives into TDs 29% of the time – the fourth-most. Look for Mixon to get into the endzone at least once this weekend.

Mixon is a top-eight option, ranking well ahead of expert consensus in Week 14.

Tier 2 – Tony Pollard

Pollard’s utilization neared pre-Ezekiel Elliott injury levels in Week 13. Before Malik Davis took over the final drive, Pollard handled 43% of the snaps, 40% of the rushing attempts, and registered a 44% route participation.

There could still be some boom-bust to Pollard’s game moving forward. Still, he averages 14.1 fantasy points per game with Zeke, which puts him firmly in the RB2 conversation. Over the last two games with Elliott, his combined attempts and targets total 45.

In Week 14, the Cowboys get the Texans, who allow the most rushing attempts (34.1) and yards (168) per game in non-overtime play. Dallas is a run-focused team this year, ranking eighth in rush rate in close and leading game scripts.

Pollard’s utilization profile comes with risk, but he is a low-end RB1 with slate-breaking upside.

Tier 2 – James Conner

Conner has RB19, RB3, RB15, and RB4 finishes since returning to the lineup in Week 9. During that stretch, his utilization profile has transformed to bellcow status.

The 27-year old back averages 17.7 points per game this season when he eclipses the 70%-snap share. If you extend back to 2021 with the same threshold, he averages 21.7.

The Patriots are a solid run defense, but they aren’t impenetrable, allowing 109 yards per game in non-overtime play. We should have a close game; teams average 26 rushing attempts against New England.

Since his return, Conner sees four targets per game, making a 25-touch game possible.

Volume is king, making Conner a borderline RB1 who ranks four spots ahead of industry consensus.

Tier 3 – D’Onta Foreman

The Panthers have been one of the most run-heavy teams since moving on from Matt Rhule after Week 5.

  • Trailing by four-plus points: 35% (13th)
  • Within three points: 48% (4th)
  • Leading by four-plus points: 72% (1st)

The Panthers are only 3.5-point underdogs on the road against Seattle, indicating we could see a close game. Foreman has accounted for 61% of Carolina’s rushing attempts since earning a significant role starting in Week 7.

After beginning the week on the injury report due to a foot injury, Foreman is ready to go this weekend.

The Seahawks allow the fourth-most rush yards per game (146) in non-overtime play.

Foreman ranks as my RB16 – six spots ahead of expert consensus this weekend.

Monitoring – Seattle RBs

Pete Carroll labeled Kenneth Walker III and DeeJay Dallas as game-time decisions despite their inability to practice all week. Carroll is historically optimistic when it comes to injuries (see Chris Carson), and fantasy managers should consider both unlikely to suit up in a late-window tilt.

Travis Homer and Tony Jones Jr. are likely to shoulder the load against the Panthers. Homer is Seattle’s primary passing-down option, but he could also lead the team on early downs in Week 14. Homer’s range of outcomes is wide, but there is a chance he plays a near-every-down role.

Jones doesn’t have the same upside, but there is a chance he takes on part of the early-down work, so the team doesn’t have to overwork Homer.

Homer is a high-end RB3 with high-end RB2 upside if Walker and Dallas are inactive. In that scenario, Jones moves into low-end RB3 territory.

Monitoring – Buccaneer RBs

Leonard Fournette landed on the injury report on Thursday due to a sore foot that limited his practice reps. He was downgraded to a DNP on Friday, which puts his Week 14 status in jeopardy and opens the door to an every-down role for Rachaad White.

The Buccaneers have a tough matchup against the 49ers this weekend, but the backfield could be in for plenty of targets. San Francisco plays the fifth-most zone coverage (76%), and Tom Brady loves throwing to his backs against zone.

If Fournette can’t play, White climbs to RB11 despite the tough matchup on paper.

Additional RB Notes & Movers:

  • Tier 2 – D’Andre Swift took a significant step forward in utilization last weekend and looked more like the RB that went early in drafts last summer. The Vikings and Lions matchup has shootout potential, and Minnesota uses the second-most zone coverage. Swift has the No. 2 TPRR (24%) behind only Amon-Ra St. Brown in Detroit. The third-year RB is a low-end RB1.
  • Tier 2 – Ezekiel Elliott isn’t the every-down beast we once knew, but he regained the lead snap (56%) and rush (49%) shares last weekend. Don’t look now, but Zeke averages 17.1 fantasy points over his last five outings. He has four top-12 finishes in that span and gets the best rushing matchup on the planet against Houston. Elliott is a high-end RB2.
  • Tier 4 – Raheem Mostert regained his leadership position in the Dolphins’ backfield in Week 13, taking 61% of snaps, 78% of the rushing attempts, and 49% route participation. We don’t know if this utilization will stick – Miami could deploy the dreaded hot-hand approach. However, the Chargers are the worst-graded PFF run defense (32.6) and allow the second-most yards per game (151) in non-overtime play. Mostert is a high-end RB3.

Tier 1 – Amon-Ra St. Brown

Over his last 17 games, St. Brown has been nothing short of amazing.

Out of 81 WRs with at least 250 routes this year, the second-year WR ranks No. 2 in TPRR (32%), No. 4 in YPRR (2.66), and No. 4 in PFF receiving grade (90.3). In games where he has a 70%-plus route participation this year, he averages 21.8 fantasy points per game.

This weekend, the Sun God lands in another juicy spot against a Vikings defense that coughs up the most receiving yards per game (298) in non-overtime play. This game has the potential for fireworks, with the No. 1 game total on the slate and the Lions boasting the No. 2 team total.

ARSB is a SMASH play as the No. 4 ranked WR on the slate.

Tier 2 –  Ja’Marr Chase

Chase returned to the lineup in Week 13 and promptly bogarted 27% of the targets in true alpha fashion. Before his injury, Chase was on fire with 32-plus points in Weeks 6 and 7.

Expectations are high for the Bengals' offense this weekend, with the third-highest team total against a Browns offense that has shown an ability to hang in games. Cleveland’s secondary has been decent this year, but Chase has the sixth-best matchup grade (89.4) in PFF’s WR/CB Matchup tool.

Chase is a top-five option this weekend.

Tier 3 – Chris Godwin

Since returning to a full-time role in Week 6, Godwin averaged a 26% target share per game and leads the team with a 24% TPRR (career high). However, the 26-year-old WR struggled last week against the Saints’ man-heavy defense, a trend we have seen with the veteran WR over the years. This season, that trend has continued.

The 49ers' defense is playing well lately and will challenge the Buccaneers' offense, but they are the fifth-most heavy zone unit (76%). No other WR with at least 400 routes has seen more targets come with an LB or S in primary coverage than Godwin’s 50%.

Godwin is a mid-range WR2.

Tier 3 – Garrett Wilson

Wilson has registered a 27% target share or better in three out of his last four games and has WR14, WR76, WR4, and WR9 finishes.

The rookie WR now ranks 16th in YPRR (2.06) and TPRR (23%) on the season. Over the last two games with Mike White at QB, Wilson has 22 targets, 13 receptions, 257 yards, and two TDs receiving.

The Bills have the No. 7 PFF coverage grade (73.2) on the season but rank 17th over the last four games. Quality receivers have been a problem during that stretch:

  • Amon-Ra St. Brown in Week 12: 10-128-1
  • Amari Cooper in Week 11: 8-113-2
  • Justin Jefferson in Week 10: 10-193-1

Wilson is pushing for top-12 status, ranking as the WR15. He comes in three spots ahead of expert consensus.

Tier 3 – Amari Cooper

Cooper had a rough day by his 2022 standards, with four receptions for 40 yards in the first game with Deshaun Watson. Yet, the targets were still there, with a season-high 43%.

Only 44% of Cooper’s targets were deemed catchable per PFF, but Watson’s accuracy should improve in the coming weeks.

The Bengals allow the third-fewest receiving points per game in non-overtime play.

Cooper is a mid-range WR2.

Tier 4 – Mike Williams

Williams doesn’t carry an injury designation after practicing in full twice to end the week. The veteran WR has three top-15 finishes in seven healthy games, and the Chargers will need to score points this weekend in what could be a shootout atmosphere against the Dolphins on Sunday Night Football.

Miami runs the second-most man coverage (38%), and Williams owns a whopping 40% TPRR against man this season.

Williams is a high-end WR3 that should be in most starting lineups.

Tier 5 – Adam Thielen

The days of the sure-handed Thielen carrying fantasy teams are long gone, but he lands in a nice spot against the Lions in Week 14 in a game that could go nuclear. The Vikings carry a 25-point team total (7th), and the Lions allow the fifth-most receiving yards per game in non-overtime play at 264 yards.

Detroit has been better over the last five games, with a top-eight PFF coverage grade. However, several lesser passing attacks have eclipsed their season yardage average against the Lions in that span.

  • Aaron Rodgers: 291 yards (+71 yards versus his average)
  • Justin Fields: 167 (+9)
  • Daniel Jones: 341 (+144)

In Week 4, the last time Thielen faced the Lions, he finished as the WR22 on nine targets, eight receptions, and 72 receiving yards.

Thielen climbs into the mid-range WR3 conversation.

Tier 5 – DJ Chark

Chark returned to a full-time role in Week 12. Over the last two games, he has 36% and 48% of the Lions’ air yards. He only has a 16% target share but leads the team in ADOT at 17.7.

The former second-round WR out of LSU is a great complement to Amon-Ra St. Brown, who works the underneath and intermediate areas of the field.

The Lions face a Vikings coverage unit that allows 298 yards per game in regulation play – the most in the NFL. Detroit carries the No. 4 team total on the slate.

Chark is a boom-bust WR3 that ranks almost 10 spots ahead of expert consensus.

Additional WR Notes & Movers:

  • Tier 3 – Keenan Allen has WR19, WR21, and WR11 finishes since his return from a lengthy hamstring injury. He has a 24% target share over that span and is heating up just in time for the fantasy playoffs. The Dolphins and Chargers provide one of the more inviting scoring environments on the slate, with a top-two game total. Allen is a mid-range WR2.
  • Tier 4 – Marquise Brown picked up where he left off in his Week 12 return by leading the team with a 31% target share. This offense will likely funnel through Brown and DeAndre Hopkins down the stretch as the Cardinals are in a must-win mode to stay alive. The man-heavy Patriots defense has been stingy, but Brown has roasted man coverage this season with a 2.24 YPRR and 29% TPRR. Brown is a mid-range WR2 and ranks ahead of expert consensus.
  • Tier 5 – Jerry Jeudy only participated in a route on 41% of the Broncos' pass plays coming off of his ankle injury in Week 13. However, he managed a 40% TPRR and leads the team at 22% for the season. The Chiefs allow the fourth-most fantasy points per game to pass catchers (61.8) in non-time play, and Courtland Sutton is out. Denver’s offense is gross, but Jeudy could see a lot of targets. He is a mid-range WR3.

Tier 2 – Mark Andrews

Andrews hasn’t delivered a big-time performance since Week 6 when he injured his knee. He hasn’t appeared on the injury report for the last two games, but we haven’t seen his efficiency return.

However, Andrews continues to demand high-end utilization.

The elite astronomical target shares we saw early in the season have come down since returning from the knee injury, but his 24% target share is still top-notch. That is in line with his last two seasons, and the 7.7 targets per game are encouraging.

Tyler Huntley will take over at QB this weekend, but the offense won’t change much from a design perspective. Andrews will be the centerpiece, and Huntley has shown a willingness to pepper him with looks in the past.

The Steelers allow the sixth-most receiving yards (259) and second-most TDs (1.9) per game in non-overtime play to opposing pass catchers.

Andrews is the No. 2 TE and is due for a big game.

Tier 2 – Dalton Schultz

Schultz has been racking up high-end TPRR performances all season, but his MCL injury has limited his route participation. However, in Week 13, he delivered his second-best outing (91%) of the season.

If the fifth-year TE can stay on the field for 80% or more of the passing plays, he is going to run into some big fantasy finishes down the stretch.

He is a mid-range TE1, with high-end TE1 potential.

Tier 5 – Chigoziem Okonkwo

Okonkwo registered a 78% route participation after Treylon Burks left the game with a concussion and led the Titans in multiple receiving categories.

Out of TEs with at least 100 routes, the rookie has shown promise:

  • TPRR: 25% (3rd)
  • YPRR: 2.75 (1st)
  • PFF Receiving Grade: 79.5 (5th)

We are dealing with a small sample, and we could get Albert Okwuegbunam’ed. However, we can only go off of the data we have. The median concussion recovery time is nine days, so there is a chance Okonkwo will be forced into a more prominent role this weekend.

If Burks can’t go, Okonkwo joins the upside TE2 group.

Additional TE Notes & Movers:

Tier 4 – Daniel Bellinger returned from an eye injury he suffered in Week 7 to post a robust 83% route participation and an 18% target share in Week 13. He was showing promise before his injury and is a streaming TE option the rest of the way. Bellinger is a mid-range TE2.
